What it’s like to be a Teaching Fellow:
As a Teaching Fellow, you’ll work directly with students in expanded learning programs. Tutoring, guiding, and supporting young learners through hands-on activities while ensuring a safe, structured, and positive environment for every student in your classroom.
The Opportunity:
Monitor Student Learning in a School Environment:
Monitor and mentor student learning activities each day
Prepare and communicate clear lesson objectives and daily lesson plans
Establish and communicate objectives for all lessons, units, and projects
Submit lesson plans aligning with target standards
Tutor youth individually and in groups to support academic progress
Prepare reports on student activity and accomplishments
Enforce rules for behavior and maintain order in learning environments
Observe and evaluate student performance, behavior, and social development
Monitor proper use and care of equipment and materials
Model responsible and positive behavior in alignment with CTFF and school district standards
Adhere to Teaching Fellows Day and Morning Program Outline
Follow the established program outline and daily schedule
Shadow a master teacher or administrator for training and development
Assist with student check-in and homework tutoring
Lead pre-scheduled enrichment and academic learning activities
Support structured learning aligned with educational goals
Communication & Safety
Maintain open communication with tutors, administrators, and CTFF staff
Collaborate on lesson plan development and program objectives
Monitor students to ensure safety and maintain required 1:10 tutor-to-student ratio
Know the location of all students at all times and follow emergency procedures
Report incidents involving injury, illness, or abuse promptly and accurately
Identify and report any suspicious or inappropriate conduct on site
Toileting Support
Provide bathroom assistance and education to promote independence
Assist with lifting or transferring students as needed, ensuring dignity and safety
Behavioral and Social Support
Build rapport and meaningful relationships to support student growth
Encourage positive behavior and academic engagement through mentoring and coaching
Use conversation, games, and group activities to support social and emotional learning
Apply behavior management techniques to reduce challenges and improve performance

Qualifications
Qualifications & Minimum Requirements:
18 years old or older
Have obtained a high school diploma or GED equivalent
Authorization to work in the United States
Completion of 48 college units or passage of an approved exam, if applicable, to meet the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requirements.
Proficiency in the English language, including spelling, grammar, and composition; ability to speak multiple languages is recognized as beneficial but not required.
General understanding of educational standards and the public school system.
Willingness to undergo background checks and Tuberculosis exam.
It would be nice if you also had:
Completion of six (6) Early Childhood Education (ECE) units from an accredited college or university.
Excellent organization and time management.
High ethical standards and cultural sensitivity.
Desire to foster educational aspirations and goals in youth.
