Description

Description At RH we believe deeply that the "right" people are our greatest asset. We value people with high energy, who possess the ability to energize others. People who are smart, creative and have a point of view. People who see the answer in every problem, versus those who see the problem in every answer. People who are driven, determined and won't take "no" for an answer. We value team players, people who are more concerned with what's right, rather than who's right. About the Development & Design Team At RH, the retail design game has changed and Development & Design is the group that brings the RH vision to life. From restaurants, to European rooftop gardens to design gallery showrooms to guesthouses, we are delivering the best home furnishing experience in the US, Canada, United Kingdom and Europe. We take beautiful properties, often historic or architecturally significant structures, in the world’s most sought after markets and create the high-end RH flagship galleries that blur the lines between residential and retail, and retail and hospitality. As part of the Development & Design team, you can be a part of this movement. The Leader of Architecture and Design will work in collaboration with the rest of the Development & Design Team and other internal partners through the design and construction phases of new ground up RH galleries. This position will lead projects to support the expansion and transformation efforts of its stores to next generation design galleries; onboarding consultants, working through the planning and entitlement processes, leading external architects of record in the development of permit sets and construction administration and ensuring the RH design vision is executed with success. This candidate will be a self-starter and enjoy a “startup” mentality and environment that changes day to day and will “assume positive intentions” at all times. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Live Our Vision, Values and Beliefs Lead projects to support the rollout of Next Generation Design Galleries through all phases of project development from concept design through construction and gallery opening. Support the development of design standards and details for ground up 40,000+ square foot Next Generation Design Galleries Full grasp and ownership of project open design items and priorities Cross-functional collaboration with internal business partners of the Development & Design team to review plans and determine merchandising and operational requirements. Partner with the construction team to provide timely resolution of on-site design challenges. Support hospitality and retail fixture design, development and sourcing Review submittals, shop drawings and FF&E procurement of key design elements. Partner with the gallery preservation team to incorporate operational feedback into future designs and execute special projects. Conducts site visits with the ability to travel approximately 30% of the time. Adhere to company policies, procedures and performance standards. Contribute to the company’s culture, mission and values through leadership and actions. OUR REQUIREMENTS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Superior time management skills within a fast-paced environment. Team player driving towards what’s right, not who’s right. Experience and comfort with executive-level project reviews to understand design vision and execute directives Ability to lead meetings with consultants to execute project deliverables and communicate project status and priorities to upper leadership Excellent written and verbal communication skills Highly proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Bluebeam, Google Suite and Adobe Creative Suite to develop design studies from concept sketches to formalized schematic design package EDUCATION / TRAINING College degree in architecture or interior architecture. EXPERIENCE 5-7 years of experience in large scale high-end retail or hospitality design, developing floor plans and programming, elevations, details and managing concurrent projects through all phases of design development through to gallery openings. Company RH is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against any applicant on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, marital status, age, disability, sexual orientation, military/veteran status, or any other status protected by federal or state law or local ordinance. At RH, we are committed to promoting pay equity. Rate of pay is determined based on each individual's experience, qualifications, and the geographic location of the role.
