Our teams support a wide range of industries, from data centers and utilities to industrial manufacturing, oil and gas, chemicals, renewables, and more — ensuring that their electrical infrastructure stays compliant and minimizes downtime. <em><u>With over 50 years in business and a strong reputation for safety, quality, and technical excellence.</u></em></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Position Overview: </strong></p>\n<p>The Field Service Technician - Electrical Testing will be responsible for performing electrical testing, maintenance, and repair services on electrical distribution systems and equipment. The technician will work with a team of professionals to ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Field Service Test Technicians travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data of low, medium and high voltage (480 Volt to 600 kV) electrical systems.</li>\n <li>Instrument transformer tests</li>\n <li>Power transformer testing - Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.</li>\n <li>Test both electro-mechanical and solid-state relays</li>\n <li>Cable testing - Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC HI pot</li>\n <li>Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting</li>\n <li>Low, Medium and High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing</li>\n <li>Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.</li>\n <li>Rotate emergency on-call duty and if called respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Minimum Qualifications</u></strong>:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>You must be able to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel.</li>\n <li>Prefer an associate’s degree from an accredited 2 year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or a EE Degree from an ABET accredited college, similar experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee)</li>\n <li>NETA Certification (I, II, III or IV) or similar desired</li>\n <li>Must have at least 2 or more years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing & troubleshooting.</li>\n <li>Must have good PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel; experience with Power DB a plus.</li>\n <li>Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.</li>\n <li>Prefer OSHA 30 hours, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training; training on each can be provided by Shermco.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u> </u></strong></p>\n<p><strong><u>Other Requirements:</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be able to stay Drug-Free; you will be required to pass a pre-employment hair follicle drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.</li>\n <li>Must have an acceptable pre-employment criminal background check.</li>\n <li>Must be physically fit to crawl, climb, stand, walk and lift up to 75 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations.</li>\n <li>Must be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam. </li>\n <li>Must have a valid driver’s license and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.</li>\n <li>Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays and nights.</li>\n <li>Must not currently or in the future require sponsorship to work in the U.S.</li>\n <li>Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently</li>\n <li>Must be willing to travel; minimum 40%.</li>\n <li>All offers are conditioned on acceptable results from a background check and drug and alcohol screening.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER | DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE</strong></p>\n<p>Shermco is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
