    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><span><strong>Position Summary</strong></span></p><p><span>Works under limited supervision to install and maintain electrical systems.</span></p><p><span>Pay Grade: 51H</span></p><p><span>Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education</span><br>&nbsp;</p><p><span><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Two (2) years of experience as a licensed journeyman in the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment; AND</span></li><li><span>High school diploma or possess a GED; OR</span></li><li><span>PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.</span>&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;</li></ul><p><span><strong>Duties and Responsibilities</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Trouble shoots, installs, repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatuses, and control equipment.</span></li><li><span>Performs installations to minimize waste of materials.</span></li><li><span>Provides access for future maintenance and avoids unsightly hazardous and unreliable wiring consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.</span></li><li><span>Prepares sketches showing location of all wiring and equipment or follows diagrams prepared by others (schematics).</span></li><li><span>Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using such tools as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bander.</span></li><li><span>Tests continuity of circuit using ohmmeter, battery, buzzer, and oscilloscope to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of all components.</span></li><li><span>Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.</span>&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;</li></ul><p><span><strong>KSAs</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Ability to interpret electrical schematics.</span></li><li><span>Ability to use a variety of electrical testing equipment.</span></li><li><span>Ability to plan and carry out electrical installations and maintenance in conformance with required codes.</span></li><li><span>Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with others.</span><br>&nbsp;</li></ul><p><span><strong>Special Requirements</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Must have a Journeyman’s license.</span></li><li><span>Must pass a physical examination.</span></li><li><span>Must possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license or secure one by date of employment.</span></li><li><span>Must have daily access to a personal operable automobile and meet county requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment.</span><br>&nbsp;</li></ul><p><span><strong>Physical Requirements</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Must have manual dexterity.</span></li><li><span>Ability to climb and work at heights of 10-20 feet.</span></li><li><span>Must be able to work outdoors or in inclement weather.</span><br>&nbsp;</li></ul><p><span><strong>Disclaimer</strong></span></p><p><span>This position is subject to a background check for any convictions that have a substantial relationship to potential job duties. Only convictions that are substantially related to potential job duties will be considered and <u>will not</u> automatically disqualify the candidate.</span><br>&nbsp;</p><p><span><strong>Shelby County Resident Disclaimer</strong></span></p><p><span>All employees hired after September 1, 1986, must be residents of Shelby County and shall continue to reside in the County as a condition of their employment.  The residency requirement shall <u>not</u> apply to certain public safety/civil service employees.  This means exemption from this policy is in effect for the following departments and positions: (1) Sheriff Deputy Patrol Officers, Deputy Jailers and Dispatchers, employed by the Sheriff Department, (2) Correction Officers employed by the Division of Corrections, (3) Firefighters, Paramedics and Dispatchers employed by the Shelby County Fire Department.  The residency exemption for public safety/civil service employees does not include Appointed positions with Sheriff’s Office, Division of Corrections or the Fire Department. &nbsp;</span></p>",
