    "description": "<p>Modjeski and Masters, Inc. is excited to offer a junior to mid-level opportunity to gain practical, hands-on engineering experience for an engineer with a civil/structural background. This position includes hands-on bridge inspection, condition assessment and reporting, repair design and detailing, load capacity rating, emergency response, construction engineering, and on-site monitoring of bridge repairs.&nbsp; This position also offers the opportunity to join our rope access program. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of engineers, technicians, and drafters and will be based in our <strong>Jacksonville, Florida office</strong>, with a work area concentrated in the southeast United States but extending throughout the country.</p>\n\n<hr />\n<h4><strong>What We&rsquo;re Looking For</strong>&nbsp;</h4>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li><span style=\"color:black\">A minimum of a BS degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.</span></li>\n\t<li><span style=\"color:black\">2-5 years relevant experience in bridge inspection&nbsp;</span></li>\n\t<li><span style=\"color:black\">Coursework focused in structural engineering is preferred.</span></li>\n\t<li><span style=\"color:black\">Licensed EI or EIT with the goal of pursuing PE licensure.</span></li>\n\t<li><span style=\"color:black\">Must be able to pass a federal security background check for e-RAILSAFE and TWIC.&nbsp;</span></li>\n\t<li><span style=\"color:black\">Candidates are expected to possess keen attention to detail, demonstrate a strong understanding of structural fundamentals, and exhibit a high level of initiative.</span></li>\n</ul>\n\n<hr />\n<h4><strong>What You&rsquo;ll Do</strong></h4>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Perform field inspections as part of a team of engineers.</li>\n\t<li>Prepare inspection reports with recommendations for maintenance and repair for all types and sizes of highway and railroad bridges, including fixed bridges, such as suspension and cable-stayed bridges, trusses, girder and beam bridges; and, movable bridges, such as vertical lift, swing span, and bascule bridges.</li>\n\t<li>Prepare and detail engineered repair plans, specifications, construction cost estimates, and bidding documents.&nbsp; Produce engineering calculations for repair elements.&nbsp; Provide peer review of engineering calculations and design.</li>\n\t<li>Conduct analysis and calculations for load capacity rating of bridges using computer aided and hand calculation methods.</li>\n\t<li>Bridge construction oversight and monitoring, inspecting, and documenting individual activities performed by the contractor to monitor compliance with overall contract specifications, plans and other contract provisions.</li>\n\t<li>Emergency response to bridge related emergencies.</li>\n</ul>\n\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color:black\">Skills and Abilities:</span></strong></h4>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li><span style=\"color:black\">Have a strong understanding of structural engineering fundamentals, including being able to identify load paths, quantify member loads, and understand how loads affect structures and their members. </span></li>\n\t<li><span style=\"color:black\">Must have a good command of the English language with good oral and written communication skills.
