Description

At ClearSpace, we believe in reusability, in affordability driving disruption, and that no progress is real unless it is sustainable. Our company was founded in 2018 out of the realization that in-orbit servicing and space debris removal are vital services for the future of space exploration and operations. Today ClearSpace has assembled an expert engineering team and is leading the way toward sustainable space operations. From a garage in Switzerland, we now operate across UK and Europe, and are working with world-leading institutions and companies to bring our dream of a sustainable space ecosystem to life. We are looking for an AIV Engineer to join our UK office who will work on both our current missions and future projects. Role Purpose/Summary ClearSpace is looking for a passionate and driven individual to join our Assembly, Integration and Validation ( AIV ) team and contribute to the building of a sustainable space. Your mission will be to cover all the steps of the spacecraft verification and validation process , from the building of the test environment to the test ing of the spacecraft flight model. This is a dream role for space and tech enthusiasts , eager to grow their expertise in spacecraft systems, and put their creativity to work to develop whatever is needed to make a spacecraft project succeed. Role Responsibilities You will play a key role in the end-to-end spacecraft integration and testing process, working across all the subsystems. This role requires diving into a variety of activities -- expect plenty of software development, alongside tasks ranging from designing and architecting spacecraft digital twins, hands-on electrical integration with shiny satellite hardware and development of innovative test environments and test strategies . Responsibilities include: Participate in the design, development , delivery and maintenance of the test benches and test environments with the AIV team . Collaborate closely with the system team to define the test strategy and design the test environment to fully support it . Actively contribute to the test development and the execution, troubleshooting issues at the software level, hardware interface level, and a cross all the communication layer s. Drive c on t in u ous improvement in the testing process from test design , implementation and result analysis , to continuous execution and delivery . Must have You bring a strong background in software development, with expertise in both software craftsmanship and software development methods and practices (reliable software development, DevOps). You have solid experience in hardware/software integration, including: Integration of embedded or flight software with hardware platforms (e.g. boards, sensors, actuators, communication interfaces) Debugging and troubleshooting at system level (interfaces, protocols, timing, performance) Familiarity with integration environments such as FlatSat , test benches, or equivalent setups Understanding of low-level interfaces (e.g. CAN, SpaceWire , UART, SPI, Ethernet) and their impact on system behaviour You must be able to think out of the box to propose innovate designs, while maintaining rigor and discipline to deliver the implementation on time with the required quality, ensuring seamless integration with the downstream activities and project timelines. You must be agile, flexible and eager to learn, to be able to work with multiple, diverse, geographically distributed teams. Nice to have Experience in the aerospace domain, or another domain involving complex, safety-critical systems is desirable
