    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><span>The Engineer II<strong>&nbsp;</strong>performs engineering design review and analysis assignments, usually involving a significant project or several smaller or less complex projects. These projects, by nature of their complexity and difficulty, require the fully competent application of conventional knowledge in a particular field of engineering or science. Through broader and more technically challenging work assignments, will develop a thorough understanding of policies, methods, and procedures.</span></p>\n<p><span><strong>What You Will Do:</strong></span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>With minimal or no supervision, performs detailed engineering review of plans, as assigned, for compliance with applicable Rules, Regulations, and contract commitments.</span></li>\n <li><span>Offers technical advice to field operations and other technical offices.</span></li>\n <li><span>Performs work that involves conventional engineering practices but may include moderately complex problems such as the resolution of conflicting design requirements, material standards or coordination of activities among other disciplines.</span></li>\n <li><span>Proposes new approaches to problems encountered and makes recommendations for changes in methods, procedures, or designs.</span></li>\n <li><span>Drafts technically accurate and timely reports, and responses to letters, faxes, and other forms of communication.</span></li>\n <li><span>Interacts with clients to identify and resolve problems around technical expertise.</span></li>\n <li><span>Prepares accurate and timely weekly reports and billing on all work performed.</span></li>\n <li><span>Communicates the status of the current workload to all appropriate members of the team to ensure the needs of the clients will be met.</span></li>\n <li><span>Works as a team member within the group but may work most of the time autonomously.</span></li>\n <li><span>Implements and maintains ABS Quality System requirements relative to responsibilities after undergoing ABS Quality System training.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span><strong>What You Will Need:</strong></span></p>\n<p><span><u>Education and Experience</u></span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>B.S. degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or other related disciplines.&nbsp; Masters / Ph.D. Graduates with no experience may be hired as Engineer II if degrees are specific to the position</span></li>\n <li><span>The following are requirements for university graduates and experienced engineers from industry (either I or II) for Engineer II;</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ol>\n <li><span>Education:</span>\n  <ol>\n   <li><span>Hull backgrounds&nbsp;&nbsp;</span>\n    <ol>\n     <li><span>B.S. degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or other related disciplines</span></li>\n     <li><span>Masters / PhD Graduates with no experience may be hired as Engineer II if degrees are specific to the position.</span></li>\n     <li><span>Demonstrated computer literacy in engineering software.</span></li>\n     <li><span>Exposed to Finite Element Method (course work or supervised research).</span></li>\n    </ol></li>\n   <li><span>Machinery backgrounds&nbsp;&nbsp;</span>\n    <ol>\n     <li><span>B.S. degree in Marine, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other related disciplines.</span></li>\n     <li><span>Masters / PhD Graduates with no experience may be hired as Engineer II if degrees are specific to the position.</span></li>\n    </ol></li>\n  </ol></li>\n <li><span>Experienced Engineer from Industry A or B:</span>\n  <ol>\n   <li><span>Hull</span>\n    <ol>\n     <li><span>Demonstrated computer literacy in engineering software.</span></li>\n     <li><span>Exposed to Finite Element Method (course work or supervised research).</span></li>\n     <li><span>Ten (10) years or more of related engineering experience in a shipyard, design/consulting office, shipping/oil company, or a classification society <strong>or</strong></span></li>\n     <li><span>Professional or chartered engineer license and five (5) years or more of related engineering experience in a shipyard, design/consulting office, shipping/oil company, or a classification society or</span></li>\n     <li><span>Two (2) years as Engineer I.</span></li>\n    </ol></li>\n   <li><span>Machinery</span>\n    <ol>\n     <li><span>Ten (10) years or more of related engineering experience in a shipyard, design/consulting office, shipping/oil company, or a classification society or</span></li>\n     <li><span>Seagoing engineering license or professional/chartered engineer license and five (5) years or more of related engineering experience in a shipyard, design/consulting office, shipping/oil company, or a classification society or&nbsp;</span></li>\n     <li><span>Two (2) years as Engineer I.</span></li>\n    </ol></li>\n  </ol></li>\n</ol>\n<p><span><u>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</u></span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply fundamental classification and quality concepts, practices, and procedures.</span></li>\n <li><span>The ability to identify, analyze and propose solutions to problems (i.e., the competence to demonstrate complex problem-solving skills).</span></li>\n <li><span>Good command of the English language with the ability to communicate orally and in writing.</span></li>\n <li><span>Ability to work well with others.</span></li>\n <li><span>Ability to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span><u>It Would Be Nice If You Had</u></span></p>\n<p><span>Professional or chartered engineer license.</span></p>\n<p><span><strong><u>Salary</u></strong></span></p>\n<p><span>$85k - $100k</span></p>\n<p><span><strong>Reporting Relationships:</strong></span></p>\n<p><span>The incumbent reports to a senior level engineer or technical manager.
