Directly or indirectly, you'll have exposure to cutting-edge technology and groundbreaking medical research.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We are seeking a<strong><em> CRNA</em></strong> who will report jointly to the Clinical Lead CRNA and the Division Chief of Nurse Anesthesia (Chief CRNA). Primary clinical responsibilities are (a) the administration of intravenous, inhalation, and other anesthetics to patients in an operating room and (b) observing the physiological condition of patients while under anesthesia. In conjunction with these primary responsibilities, (a) evaluates each assigned patient's physical state and plans the course of anesthesia, (b) obtains, assembles, operates, and/ or monitors anesthesia equipment, and (c) ensures that all necessary supplies, drugs, and anesthetic agents are available.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must work a minimum of 30 hours a week.  M-F (shift 10s, 12s, variable)  No weekends, No on-call, no holidays</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Rate $200/hr</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Independently researches new/unknown procedures, diseases, medications, and equipment</li>\n <li>Functions within safe parameters for quality/good patient care. Seeks assistance from an attending anesthesiologist when appropriate. Uses critical thinking skills and adapts to changes as necessary.</li>\n <li>Applies knowledge of pre-op, intra-op, and post-op effectively under normal conditions and under emergency conditions.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates technical competence. Employs dexterity when performing anesthetic procedures.</li>\n <li>Understands all anesthetic equipment used in the JHH OR, uses items to full advantage, and handles equipment carefully. Sets up all necessary equipment for a successful anesthetic course.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>Pre-anesthesia Assessment & Case Preparation</em></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Performs and documents timely pre-anesthesia assessments.</li>\n <li>review of medical history (including anesthesia, drug, and allergy history).</li>\n <li>focused physical examination (heart, lungs, airway, ASA classification).</li>\n <li>Plan for anesthesia care.</li>\n <li>Obtains anesthesia-informed consent.</li>\n <li>Collaborates and consults with attending anesthesiologist before start of case on plan for anesthesia care (general, regional, combined, local, and sedation techniques) when applicable</li>\n <li>Anticipates key procedures and assures an anesthesia environment (e.g., supplies & equipment, including anesthesia machine check, fluid warmers, blood, any 'special') necessary to carry out anesthetic plan.</li>\n <li>Orders and administers pre-anesthetic medications and fluids.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>Intra-012 Assessment</em></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Selects, applies, and inserts non-invasive and invasive monitoring devices.</li>\n <li>Selects and administers anesthesia, sedation, adjuncts, and accessory drugs and fluids.</li>\n <li>Manages patient airway and pulmonary status.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates understanding of relevant clinical issues, recognizes priorities in clinical situations; aware of own limits; appropriate use of tests and procedures.</li>\n <li>Maintains effective communication with team (i.e., intraoperative personnel & Attending Anesthesiologist), including briefing and debriefing discussions.</li>\n <li>Facilitates emergence and recovery from anesthesia and transport to the recovery area, providing a thorough report to the receiving unit in a timely manner.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>Post anesthesia Evaluation & Management</em></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Implements acute and chronic pain management.</li>\n <li>Performs and documents timely post anesthesia evaluation and discharges patient from recovery area when appropriate.</li>\n <li>Provides a complete report of the patient's anesthetic course and any pertinent information necessary to accurately transfer care of the patient.</li>\n <li>Facilitates room turnover in a timely fashion (room, medicine, and equipment prep, pre-op assessment).</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>Provides medical services according to the JHM Service Standards, including</em></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Patient Relations, Self-Management, Teamwork, Communications, Ownership/Accountability, and Continuous performance improvement.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Completion of a nurse anesthesia program approved by the MD Board of Nursing</li>\n <li>Current MD State RN and CRNA license required.</li>\n <li>Current CPR certification, ACLS required.</li>\n <li>Credentialing prior to start date required.</li>\n <li>Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Johns Hopkins Health System and its affiliates are Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employers.
