Staff Android Engineer

We're looking for a Staff Android Engineer to join OpenSea to shape the mobile experience for millions of users discovering and trading digital assets. Mobile is critical to to our next phase of growth, and this role will level up our investment & expertise in delivering world-class Android experiences. You will own Android development end-to-end: from architecture and feature development to performance optimization and AI-assisted tooling, building the mobile gateway that brings users onchain. Responsibilities Develop and maintain high-quality, performant Android applications from the ground up using modern Kotlin and Jetpack Compose Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to build seamless, user-friendly mobile experiences Take ownership of features from conception through deployment Contribute to the architecture and evolution of the mobile codebase, including Kotlin Multiplatform components where applicable Integrate with GraphQL APIs and implement real-time data updates to deliver dynamic and responsive user interfaces Advocate for and adopt AI-assisted development tools to accelerate productivity and improve code quality Participate in code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to elevate the overall mobile engineering practice Help shape the future direction of OpenSea's mobile platform by providing technical leadership and innovative solutions Desired Experience Expert-level proficiency in modern Android development practices Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform and Jetpack Compose is a significant plus, though not a strict requirement Solid understanding of GraphQL and Apollo for networking within mobile applications Demonstrated ability to build and maintain high-quality, performant, and scalable Android apps from from scratch Hands-on experience with real-time data updates and complex UI interactions Proven track record of adopting and leveraging AI tools to accelerate development productivity Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a focus on shipping polished features Prior experience in fintech or crypto-related products preferred High ownership mentality The base salary for this full-time position in the United States, spanning multiple internal levels depending on qualifications, ranges between $180,000 to $270,000 plus benefits & equity. Compensation for internationally based candidates will vary to reflect local market conditions.
