Our students are proud members of the Friendship family who engage with their education in a virtual environment. Friendship PCS Online offers the engaging and rigorous Stride K12 curriculum in an effort to provide our students with current, meaningful, and interactive lessons in reading, language arts, mathematics, history, science, music, and art. Friendship PCS Online even offers world language courses in five languages, including Spanish, German, French, Latin, and Chinese.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Our students range from kindergarten to grade 8 and are assisted by highly motivated, passionate teachers both virtually and in person. Our academic leaders and teachers also support parents or other adults in the home as they take on an important role as a student’s Learning Coach. Although many of the lessons and learning activities occur online and in the home, Friendship Public Charter School Online students are often brought together through face-to-face learning sessions at the Nicholson Street Campus. If you are committed to accelerating student achievement, fostering joyful and rigorous learning, and preparing students for bright postsecondary futures, we encourage you to apply.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We look forward to learning more about you and your passion for serving students in Washington, DC.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>For more information about our schools please visit the following Social Media pages: YouTube, Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram & Twitter!</p>\n<p><strong>Please see the available salary scales:</strong> <strong>FPCS Compensation</strong></p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Create a classroom culture of high achievement and student ownership of their learning that helps foster students’ intellectual, social and emotional development.</li>\n <li>Provide daily instruction, including clear learning outcomes, well-designed lessons and high-quality assessments that align to Friendship’s curriculum and standards.</li>\n <li>Incorporate into lessons creative, hands-on learning experiences that broaden students’ exposure and interests, help foster student ingenuity and require application of knowledge and skills acquired through daily instruction.</li>\n <li>Provide a classroom environment that is visually appealing, rich with resources aligned to curriculum and standards and honors student’s achievement with current and accurate displays of exemplary student work.</li>\n <li>Communicate to students to understand their talents, interests and needs and to convey learning expectations and their progress toward meeting those expectations.</li>\n <li>Communicate regularly with families to identify students’ talents, interests and needs and update parents regarding students’ achievements and progress.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with school-based staff and throughout the Friendship network in staff meetings, regular analysis sessions and professional learning designed to enhance students’ learning experience and increase student achievement.</li>\n <li><strong>Team members working at one of Friendship’s Online Academies will work in a hybrid capacity, with a potential of 3 days a week in person and 2 days a week virtually in collaboration with other team members, scholars, and learning coaches. Throughout the year, there will also be times when team members will report in-person to support testing, participate in check and connect sessions, field trips, in-person tutoring, professional development, etc. Friendship’s Online Academy Team Members are required to participate in all in-person activities. The number of in-person days varies from month to month depending on scheduled activities.</strong></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in Education, ELA, or a related field preferred.</li>\n <li>Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching ELA, preferably in a K-8 setting.</li>\n <li>Strong knowledge of ELA intervention strategies and best practices.</li>\n <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li>\n <li>Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents.</li>\n <li>Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance ELA instruction.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Preferred Qualifications:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and varying abilities.</li>\n <li>Valid teaching certification/license for the appropriate grade levels.</li>\n <li>Training or certification in ELA intervention programs or strategies.</li>\n <li>Bilingual abilities are a plus.</li>\n <li>experience in the role</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><em>FPCS’s policy is to provide equal employment opportunity to all qualified applicants and employees regardless of their race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, genetic information, veteran status, status as a special disabled veteran, or any other protected criteria as established by federal, state, or local laws.
