They understand modern application development methodologies, tools, infrastructures, and work cultures. The Principal Software Engineer provides technical guidance to development teams and oversee the technical aspects of all Java projects. They promote industry standards and best practices which integrate Security and DevOps disciplines to accelerate delivery of secure, elastic and resilient application solutions.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong><u>WHAT YOU’LL DO</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Application and infrastructure design from concept through development and implementation while ensuring scalability, performance and maintainability</li>\n <li>Provides training, guidance, mentoring and leadership</li>\n <li>Leads daily standup meetings, hold regular training or refresher workshops</li>\n <li>Supervising and overseeing all technical aspects of all projects</li>\n <li>Provides maintenance support and assist with updates to existing applications</li>\n <li>Implements the application deployment strategy, including automation and CI/CD strategies</li>\n <li>Oversee, design, and ensure appropriate source code management policies and practices are implemented and maintained.</li>\n <li>Provides guidance of DevOps and hosting server infrastructure.</li>\n <li>Interfaces with external vendor to coordinate integration of technologies</li>\n <li>Take part in continuous training in company policies/procedures and industry regulations.</li>\n <li>Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, encourage innovation and a culture of collaboration by experimenting with and learning new technologies.</li>\n <li>Responsible for recruiting, hiring, performance reviews and career advancement of subordinate developer positions</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong><u>YOUR SKILLS & ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><em>Education:</em> Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field required; Master’s Degree can supplement experience in specific cases and is a plus</li>\n <li><em>Experience:</em> 8+ years of full stack development experience designing, building, and operating scalable, highly available, mission-critical systems\n  <ul>\n   <li>5+ years leading, mentoring, motivating, and growing a mature and goal-driven delivery team</li>\n   <li>Extensive experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs and designing integration patterns across enterprise platforms</li>\n   <li>Hands-on experience designing and building applications in AWS cloud environments (including compute, networking, storage, and managed database services)</li>\n   <li>Experience building and supporting event streaming and asynchronous architectures using Apache Kafka</li>\n   <li>Experience with cloud-native relational databases including Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL</li>\n   <li>Extensive experience and deep technical understanding of the following:\n    <ul>\n     <li>Programming languages: Java, SQL</li>\n     <li>Front-end architecture components: JavaScript, JSON, ReactJs, MaterialUI</li>\n     <li>Event Streaming & Messaging: Apache Kafka</li>\n     <li>Cloud Platforms & Infrastructure: AWS</li>\n     <li>RDMS: Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB, Aurora PostgreSQL</li>\n     <li>Enterprise solution applications: ERP, CMS, CRM</li>\n     <li>Server Architectures: Docker, Kubernetes, SpringBoot, Weblogic, Tomcat</li>\n    </ul></li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li><em>Skills:</em> Strong working knowledge of modern web development, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, cloud-native application development, and relational databases\n  <ul>\n   <li>Comprehensive knowledge of software, application, systems, and network engineering principles</li>\n   <li>Ability to serve in an architectural role, designing scalable, resilient solutions for complex business and integration challenges</li>\n   <li>Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex design, performance, and distributed system challenges</li>\n   <li>Ability to lead teams through ambiguity while managing multiple concurrent initiatives with varying timelines</li>\n   <li>Ability to facilitate healthy technical debate and help team members resolve conflict constructively</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li><em>Travel</em>: Up to 25%</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Office and plant environment.</li>\n <li>Keyboarding, lifting, standing, bending, walking.</li>\n <li>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>ABOUT GREAT DANE</u></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>With a history dating back to 1900, Great Dane has established itself as a transportation solutions leader of today – delivering innovative products and exceptional services that help our customers and employees succeed.
