We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team and support our mission of delivering high-quality eye care services.</p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Job Summary:</span> The Optometric Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our optometry clinic. Under the supervision of an Optometrist, the technician provides both administrative and clinical support, contributing to the overall patient experience and the efficiency of eye care services. This position involves a variety of tasks, including preparing patients for eye examinations, performing preliminary tests, maintaining patient records, and assisting with vision correction preparations such as eyeglasses and contact lenses. The Optometric Technician is also responsible for educating patients on eye care practices, managing referrals, and handling insurance inquiries. Additionally, the technician participates in our mobile optometry outreach program, traveling to outreach sites to set up mobile clinics and provide eye care services to underserved communities. The ideal candidate will be organized, patient-focused, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent patient care are essential for success in this role. Travel is required. This position is located in White Cloud and requires weekly travel to Baldwin.</p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Primary Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">1. Assist the Optometrist:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Prepare Patients for Vision Examinations:</span>Ensure patients are comfortable and informed about the examination process. Accurately record patient medical history, chief complaint, and reconcile current medications. Perform preliminary tests including visual acuity, pupil assessment, confrontation fields, EOMs, IOPs, and other testing as determined by the Optometrist.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Administer Eye Drops:</span>Instill eye drops using sterile techniques and provide patient education on the purpose and effects of the drops as ordered by the Optometrist.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Scribe During Examinations:</span>Accurately document the Optometrist's findings and instructions during patient examinations to ensure comprehensive patient records.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Assist with Specialized Tests:</span>Administer specialized tests and procedures under the supervision of the Optometrist, including visual field assessments, fundus photography, and optical coherence tomography.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Patient Education:</span>Educate patients on eye care practices, the use of eyeglasses and contact lenses, and post-examination care instructions.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Follow-Up Care:</span>Assist with follow-up care by scheduling appointments, obtaining referrals, and providing patients with necessary information regarding their treatment plans.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Insurance and Referrals:</span>Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies, assist patients in understanding their insurance coverage, and manage referrals to other healthcare providers as needed.</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">2. Optical Duties</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Assist patients with frame and lens selection. Advise patients on best choices for their prescription and lifestyle.</li>\n<li>Accurately measure pupillary distance and segment height for glasses orders</li>\n<li>Calculate patient out of pocket cost for eyewear</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">3. Administrative Duties:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Answer phones, schedule appointments, and maintain patient records.</li>\n<li>Document patient care information and history in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).</li>\n<li>Address assigned tasks within the EHR and document care during computer downtime.</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">4. Clinical Support:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain inventory and ensure equipment is clean and functional.</li>\n<li>Perform routine checks on equipment and emergency kits.</li>\n<li>Clean and prepare examination rooms between patient visits.</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">5. Mobile Optometry Outreach Program:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Travel to outreach sites and set up mobile clinics.</li>\n<li>Perform clerical tasks and maintain accurate health records.</li>\n<li>Escort children and interact professionally with school staff.</li>\n<li>Facilitate care delivery with parents regarding referrals and follow-ups.</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">6. Training and Compliance:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with orientation and training of new staff.</li>\n<li>Maintain appropriate certification/licensure and complete required competencies.</li>\n<li>Follow HIPAA laws and organizational safety policies.</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">7.
