Description
H.A.L.O provides a remote patient observation service to hospitals and long-term care homes. Currently it is implemented at multiple Canadian hospitals and LTC facilities. H.A.L.O has enhanced patient outcomes prioritizing patient safety and well-being by addressing gaps in traditional healthcare systems, ensuring consistent and attentive care at all times.

Site: MaRS Discovery District, Toronto
Reports to: Manager
Wage Range: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
Hours: 12 Hour Shifts - Days, Nights and Weekends
Status: Permanent Full-time, Casual
Closing Date: Open until closed
The Human Attended Live Observation (H.A.L.O.) Telemonitor Program is dedicated to remotely monitoring and ensuring the safety of patients. As a member of the Telemonitoring team, the Patient Observation Technician provides continuous observation & monitoring to patients who are identified as a safety risk.
As a member of the team, you will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to patients through remote communication channels. This position requires excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment. Joining our Telemonitoring team offers opportunities for growth and advancement within the program.
Duties:
Monitor patients remotely from our central command centre using advanced telemonitoring technology to ensure their safety and well-being. Communicate with patients through remote channels, offering reassurance, support, and assistance as required. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient observations and interactions. Utilize Microsoft Office applications and other technology platforms efficiently. Demonstrate proficiency in written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of both the English and French languages at the professional level. Prioritize tasks effectively, managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Apply strong problem-solving skills to address patient needs and concerns promptly. Effectively manage conflicts and navigate challenging situations that may arise during remote patient monitoring. Exhibit keen observation skills and meticulous attention to detail in identifying changes in patient behavior or condition. Provide empathy, understanding, and effective communication to patients in a remote setting. Collaborate closely with the healthcare team, escalating critical situations for prompt response and resolution. Demonstrate flexibility in working different shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, based on the organization's needs.
High school diploma is required. Possession of a medical certificate or any relevant medical education is a plus, though not mandatory. Previous experience in customer service, front-facing roles, or administrative positions is highly desirable. Exposure to fast-paced environments with high-pressure situations would be advantageous. Prior healthcare experience is a plus but not mandatory. Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office applications effectively. Strong technological aptitude with the ability to adapt to different software platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in the English language, both in reading and writing at the professional level required. Proficiency in the French language, both in reading and writing at the professional level required. Proficiency in another language (Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Tagalog, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, and Spanish) would be considered an asset. Exceptional problem-solving abilities. Skilled in conflict management. Previous experience in customer service, front-facing roles, or administrative positions is highly desirable. Ability to multitask efficiently and prioritize responsibilities effectively. Excellent communication skills, displaying empathy and compassion.
