The Annual Fund team at Harvard Law School is a dynamic fundraising team dedicated to securing philanthropic support to advance the vision and priorities of the Dean of HLS.
The Annual Fund Staff Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support in planning, organizing, and coordinating a wide range of fundraising activities to meet the department's annual goals. Working as part of a larger team, this position works closely with and supports the Associate Director of Direct Marketing, along with two to three other Annual Fund Team members on their assigned programs and projects.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in building their career within higher education and learn more about alumni affairs and development.
As an Annual Fund Staff Assistant you will:
Support Annual Fund Direct Marketing efforts: track and update appeal and segmentation details, maintain accurate donor and email list data, and coordinate meetings. Support the Class Agent Program: assist with recruitment and onboarding efforts, serve as the primary point of contact for GiveCampus training and technical support, schedule and staff volunteer conference calls, respond to general inquiries, and generate program reports. Support Reunion Gift Committees: prepare plans and activities to achieve annual goals and increase donor participation, organize and staff conference calls, and answer inquiries from volunteers. Edit and maintain various tracking reports and spreadsheets to ensure accurate and up-to-date information on gift and donor totals, solicitation status, and prospects. Compose, edit, and proofread correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, and other materials in support of the Gift Committees and auxiliary Fund programs for staff and volunteers. Respond to general inquiries from alumni/ae and serve as liaison for the Annual Fund when interacting with other Law School administrative offices, alumni, donors, and volunteers providing excellent customer service and cultivating favorable relationships with both internal and external constituents. Staff in person and virtual events as needed, particularly during the Fall and Spring Reunion Weekends held in October and April each year. Complete projects in support of auxiliary Fund programs, such as publications and events, which may involve research, analysis, planning, and implementation. Perform other duties as necessary.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years related experience. Education beyond high school may count towards experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
We are looking for people who:
Are adept at working in a fast-paced environment, with changing priorities and multiple constituencies. Employ effective communication skills, particularly via phone and email. Maintain discretion when handling confidential information. Have an ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks at one time, are highly organized, possess sound judgement and strong attention to detail. Are good natured, emotionally intelligent, and can be an effective problem solver. Able to represent the department in a professional manner. Can work independently with minimal supervision, but also able to collaborate well with team members.
Standard Hours/Schedule: 35 hours per week; Full-Time, M-F. Must be able to come to campus at least once per week to handle mailings and other projects, and be available to work evenings and weekends to staff events as needed.

This position has been determined by school or unit leaders that some of the duties and responsibilities can be effectively performed at a non-Harvard location. The work schedule and location will be set by the department at its discretion and based upon operational needs. When not working at a Harvard or Harvard-designated location, employees in hybrid positions must work in a Harvard registered state in compliance with the University’s Policy on Employment Outside of Massachusetts . Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location.
