This role functions as the <strong>Revenue Gatekeeper</strong>, ensuring every product meets required safety standards and qualifies for high-value incentive programs. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, product, manufacturing partners, Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs), and utility program administrators to drive compliant, market-ready releases.</p><hr><h2><strong>Position Summary</strong></h2><p>The Regulatory &amp; Market Access Lead manages all technical certifications, utility program compliance, and market access requirements for Lion Energy&rsquo;s ESS platforms. You will translate regulatory standards into actionable engineering guidance, manage NRTL relationships, and ensure our products achieve and maintain required safety, interoperability, and grid-support certifications.</p><hr><h2><strong>Responsibilities &amp; Duties</strong></h2><h3><strong>Certification Ownership</strong></h3><ul><li>Own end-to-end safety and grid-interactive certification lifecycles for ESS platforms.</li><li>Manage UL and related filings, including UL 9540/9540A, UL 1741 (SA/SB), UL 1973, and FCC Part 15B.</li></ul><h3><strong>Market Access &amp; Incentive Programs</strong></h3><ul><li>Lead technical applications and ongoing compliance for U.S. state and utility-level programs such as:<ul><li>CEC listings</li><li>SGIP</li><li>Regional Demand Response and incentive programs</li></ul></li><li>Ensure products remain eligible for financial incentives and market participation.</li></ul><h3><strong>VPP &amp; Grid Services Integration</strong></h3><ul><li>Collaborate with Embedded Systems and API teams to meet technical requirements for:<ul><li>Virtual Power Plants (VPP)</li><li>Grid service programs</li></ul></li><li>Ensure compliance with telemetry, event response times, and data interval requirements.</li></ul><h3><strong>Utility Protocol Compliance</strong></h3><ul><li>Manage adherence to grid communication standards, including:<ul><li>CSIP</li><li>IEEE 2030.5</li></ul></li><li>Oversee firmware compliance for utility interconnection requirements (e.g., Rule 21).</li></ul><h3><strong>Partner &amp; OEM Integration</strong></h3><ul><li>Provide &ldquo;Compliance-by-Design&rdquo; guidance for inverter and hardware partners.</li><li>Support accelerated time-to-market through Delta certification paths.</li></ul><h3><strong>Lab &amp; Agency Management</strong></h3><ul><li>Serve as primary contact for NRTLs and program administrators.</li><li>Coordinate quotes, testing schedules, documentation submissions, and technical inquiries.</li></ul><h3><strong>Technical Integrity</strong></h3><ul><li>Review schematics, technical documentation, and partner test reports to identify risks before submission.</li><li>Prevent certification delays by proactively resolving discrepancies.</li></ul><h3><strong>Lifecycle Compliance</strong></h3><ul><li>Manage ongoing reporting, firmware audits, listing renewals, and compliance maintenance across active markets.</li></ul><hr><h2><strong>Required Education &amp; Experience</strong></h2><h3><strong>Education</strong></h3><ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field.</li><li>Equivalent professional experience or specialized military technical training considered.</li></ul><h3><strong>Experience</strong></h3><ul><li>5+ years in regulatory compliance, market access, or systems engineering within Renewable Energy or Power Electronics.</li><li>Experience in other regulated high-voltage categories (EV charging, industrial automation, aerospace power systems) is also applicable.</li></ul><h3><strong>Standard Knowledge</strong></h3><ul><li>Demonstrated success with UL 9540 and UL 1741 SB certifications or comparable experience with standards such as:<ul><li>IEC 62109</li><li>UL 2231</li><li>MIL-STD power requirements</li></ul></li></ul><h3><strong>Technical Proficiency</strong></h3><ul><li>Ability to interpret electrical schematics and understand firmware behavior related to:<ul><li>Grid-support functions</li><li>Communication protocols (Modbus, IEEE 2030.5, etc.)</li></ul></li></ul><h3><strong>Communication Skills</strong></h3><ul><li>Exceptional technical writing ability.</li><li>Comfortable translating complex regulatory language into clear engineering requirements.</li></ul><hr><h2><strong>Why Lion Energy</strong></h2><ul><li>Mission-driven work that directly supports clean energy adoption.</li><li>Fast-paced, innovative environment with growth opportunities.</li><li>Competitive compensation, benefits, and a collaborative team culture.</li></ul></div>\n",
