Job Overview
The Solutions Architect leads the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of enterprise application solutions across the District. Working collaboratively with business partners, project managers, and technical teams, this role drives the full lifecycle of technology initiatives, from gathering requirements and developing business cases to managing vendor relationships and overseeing change management. The Solutions Architect ensures that all implemented systems are stable, secure, and well-integrated with existing infrastructure, while also providing architectural guidance for custom applications and AI-driven solutions. This role also champions strategic planning, continuous innovation, and cross-functional alignment to ensure technology investments support FBISD's mission and goals. Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership Serve as a representative of FBISD and the Information Technology Division, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and careful judgment in all interactions with members of the FBISD community and the public Influence the development and modification of other systems by blending close working relationships with end-users and exhibiting a comprehensive understanding of technology Manage escalations; act as an escalation point for technical application issues pursued within the team Lead strategic planning to achieve FBISD’s mission, vision, and goals by prioritizing technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies Mentor and guide technical staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment by encouraging open communication and actively soliciting input from all team members Establish clear goals and expectations for project teams, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives Promote continuous improvement by identifying areas for process optimization and facilitating knowledge sharing among staff Champion organizational change by effectively communicating new initiatives and supporting team members through transitions Advocate for resources and support needed to complete projects successfully, working closely with upper management Analysis Design, implement, and coordinate business services and applications based on needs and demands Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for technology spending and initiatives Implement and coordinate the creation of technical service procedures, policies, and manuals Develop and maintain systems documentation Develop solutions with careful attention to the appropriate balance of technology and procedures Evaluate requests for new or modified systems, including feasibility, cost/benefit, and alignment with existing architecture Lead and actively participate in developing standards for custom application architecture, AI agent/chatbot implementations, AI coding initiatives, and other technical solutions Assess current system workflows and processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, or opportunities for improvement Translate business requirements into functional specifications and technical solutions Perform root cause analysis for system issues, application errors, and process bottlenecks Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to evaluate the effectiveness of implemented solutions and recommend enhancements Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate requirements and ensure alignment with organizational goals Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of technology initiatives Project Management Manage priorities, deadlines, and time-critical situations Prepare documents to ensure that they comprehensively cover application, system, and security requirements Devise IT project plans, influence customer project plans, and proactively manage projects (including the supervision of assigned District staff) to meet timelines, quality metrics, service levels, budget, and resources Lead and actively participate in standing project meetings between the IT staff and business owners Participate in strategic planning for portfolio management of the FBISD Application Portfolio Lead and actively participate in sprint planning and project management for FBISD’s Custom Applications Monitor and track project progress, identifying and addressing risks or obstacles to ensure successful delivery Communicate project status, updates, and changes effectively to stakeholders and executive leadership Facilitate post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and implement process improvements for future projects Ensure compliance with established project management methodologies, standards, and best practices Manage project budgets, resources, and vendor relationships to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including schedules, reports, and risk registers Support organizational change management efforts related to project implementations Innovation Assess new standards, technologies, and trends to bring forward strategies for future enhancements Contribute to the overall design and architecture of applications, systems and technology solutions Maintain skills as technology evolves, monitor trade press and vendor information, and review experiences of users with similar or related applications Conduct research to remain up-to-date and knowledgeable regarding industry trends and emerging technologies in anticipation of new business processes and system alterations Establish and promote best practices for AI usage, governance, and responsible implementation Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities where AI can enhance workflows, decision-making, and service delivery

Qualification Requirements
