It is the responsibility of the Material Handler to ensure the efficient and cost effective operation and stewardship of the Goodwill plant to maximize revenue generation to support the mission of Goodwill.</p><p><b>Organizational Design: </b>Under the leadership of the assigned Operations Supervisor or Logistics Manager, the Material Handler is a member of the Donated Goods Retail Operations team and is tasked with the daily operation of the plant and processed product, material handles, provides excellent customer service, and assists in other areas as assigned. This position will also assist in the training and development of team members, clients, and volunteers in support of Goodwill's mission.</p><p><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></p><ul><li>Movement of goods in the store/plant/warehouse to and from storage or production areas, and in the loading and unloading of trucks with general merchandise and donated goods with the aid of material handling equipment.</li><li>Ensure the proper handling and processing of incoming donations in and out of the warehouse in accordance with Goodwill policies and procedures including the use of a pallet jack.</li><li>Bales salvageable merchandise, identify and demonstrate understanding of items that can be baled together or items that cannot be baled but should be processed separately.</li><li>Ability to meet production standards for stemming, hanging, pricing, sorting, stocking, and pulling..</li><li>Must ensure that all products are constantly being rotated.</li><li>Sort donations according to company guidelines.</li><li>Must be able to perform basic calculations to track donations, count production, and ability to price donated goods within Goodwill guidelines.</li></ul><p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Demonstrates professionalism at all times and presents a friendly, cooperative attitude to general public and associates at all times.</li><li>Assist in warehouse security.</li><li>Responsible for training and developing team members within the framework of Goodwill policies, procedures, and job descriptions.</li><li>Notify Manager/Supervisor of low and overstock items.</li><li>Perform necessary janitorial work as needed.</li><li>Adhere to all Goodwill policies and procedures regarding sales, exchanges, cash handling, and safety.</li><li>Responsible for performing assigned duties within the framework of our Guiding Principles.</li><li>Ensure customer and donor experience is positive.</li><li>Must have punctual and dependable attendance.</li><li>Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.</li><li>Ability to work in other locations as assigned.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent preferred.</li><li>Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.</li><li>Pass drug test and criminal background check.</li></ul><p><strong>Physical Requirements/Work Environment: </strong>The physical demands/work environment conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
