Description Adjunct Instructor - Welding The LCCC welding program covers all the major semi-automatic and manual welding processes. This includes Shielded Metal Arc Welding (stick), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW or MIG), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW or TIG) and Oxy-Fuel Welding. We also cover cutting processes such as Oxy-Fuel Cutting and Plasma Cutting as well as other process such as Soldering and Brazing. As an adjunct welding instructor, you will be periodically offered the opportunity to instruct welding classes covering the topics listed above. The following are examples of classes that may be offer to an adjunct instructor. WTEC 108 Oxy-Fuel Welding and Cutting - This course covers the basic theories and practices of oxyacetylene gas welding, cutting, brazing, soldering, types of welding equipment, and operational safety issues. Welding equipment design, use, care, and maintenance are emphasized. Oxy-Fuel laboratory work will include fusion welding, brazing, soldering, and manual and semiautomatic cutting. WTEC 116 Basic Shielded Metal Arc Welding - This course covers the basic theories and practices of shielded metal arc welding, flat position welding of ferrous metal, and required welding code applications. Welding equipment design, use, care, safety, and maintenance are emphasized. Laboratory, exercises that develop welding skills in a variety of welding positions will be practiced. Welding power source selection will also be studied. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Applicants must be proficient in the subject they intend to instruct. Associate degree in related field or 3 to 5 years’ industry experience. You must also be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs and be able to work independently from others. Preferred Qualifications: Various AWS certifications in related processes. Prior teaching experience. The complete application file should include: a cover letter detailing area(s) of expertise, an updated curriculum vitae (CV), unofficial college transcripts (undergraduate and graduate), and the contact information of three professional references. Incomplete files will not be considered. Official transcripts will be required upon employment. Candidate selected will be required to complete a background check prior to being hired. About LCCC: Established in 1963, Lorain County Community College is the first community college in Ohio with a permanent campus. For six decades, LCCC has served the diverse needs of greater Lorain County region by providing affordable access to higher education and now serves approximately 13,000 students each year in certificate, associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. Since 1963, one in four Lorain County residents have taken classes at LCCC and more than 43,000 have earned a degree. LCCC was recently ranked in the top 10% of most affordable colleges in the nation and more than 90% of LCCC graduates live and work in Northeast Ohio. 45% of Lorain County’s high school graduates earn college credits through LCCC’s high school dual enrollment programs. LCCC also partners with more than 700 employers and offers 170 industry-recognized credentials to better prepare the workforce for the future. LCCC is a dynamic, student-centered college intentionally designed to support individuals with balancing multiple roles on their path to college completion. 85% of LCCC students work while attending college, with majority working at least half-time. The average age of LCCC’s students is 24, and many bring life experiences that include caring for dependents, serving in the military, or completing some prior college.
