    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Position Overview</span></span></p>\n<p>Since 1910, Scouting has helped mold the future leaders of this country by combing educational activities and lifelong values with fun. Scouting America believes and understands that helping youth puts us on a path toward a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Our Camp Counselors are responsible for supervising campers and keeping them safe. The duties of a Camp Counselor includes teaching Scouts ages 7-17 outdoor and recreational skills, overseeing and planning camp activities, and learning and implementing emergency protocol efforts to ensure the protection of campers.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Today’s summer camp staff are a diverse group of men and women sharing a dynamic career offering independence, achievement, and stability. This is work that makes a difference, work that calls one to continual learning and challenge, work that offers solid compensation, benefits, and advancement.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>This is a seasonal position (mid-June to the end of July).</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Responsibilities</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Organizing team games, explaining the rules, and acting as referee/supervisor throughout the activity.</span></li>\n<li><span> Leading activities such as crafts and art, demonstrating various techniques, and encouraging Scout to come up with ideas.</span></li>\n<li><span>Providing guidance, motivation, and support to all camp visitors.</span></li>\n<li><span>Communicate with unit leaders, Scouts, visitors, and staff.</span><br></li>\n<li><span>Maintain high standards for personal appearance and hygiene.</span></li>\n<li><span>Attend all meals and camp-wide activities unless excused by the Program Director.</span></li>\n<li><span>Obey and enforce all applicable policies, practices, and procedures approved by the New Birth of Freedom Council and the Boy Scouts of America.</span></li>\n<li><span>Know, understand, and implement emergency action plans when needed.</span></li>\n<li><span>Relay any issues that could impact the safe and successful operation of the camp to the Area Director immediately.</span></li>\n<li><span>Exemplify all aspects of the Scout Oath and Law and serve as a role model for staff and Scouts.</span></li>\n<li><span>Complete all other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Desired Skills</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><br>High moral character.</li>\n<li><br>Working knowledge of Cub Scout and Scouts BSA programs.</li>\n<li><br>Familiarity with Camp Tuckahoe facilities and traditions.</li>\n<li><br>Auditory and oral abilities to effectively communicate.</li>\n<li><br>Physical ability to participate in and instruct outdoor skills.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Requirements</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><br>Must be willing to accept and meet the Boy Scouts of America’s leadership and membership standards and subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law.</li>\n<li><span> 15</span> years of age or older.<br></li>\n<li><br>Offers for employment are subject to criminal, reference, and motor vehicle background checks.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\">Compensation</span></span></p>\n<p>Scouting America, New Birth of Freedom Council offers a competitive salary starting at $225/week, onsite housing, and meals.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>Scouting America, New Birth of Freedom Council is an equal opportunity employer.
