Description
The Food Services Team Member is a skilled cook that assists in preparing meals according to the menu. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. Must be skillful around the kitchen and able to multi-task. Experience in preparing meals from scratch and in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sets up workstations with all needed ingredients a cooking equipment.
Prepares ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.).
Prepares food using various utensils or grillers.
Ability to prepare and serve meals in a timely manner.
Keeps their workstation sanitized and orderly in the kitchen.
Ensures all food and other items are stored properly.
Checks quality of food along with utilizing time and temperature standards
Other duties may be assigned.
Preparing meals from scratch when applicable
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Proven work experience as a cook.
Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.).
Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
Ability to work in a team.
Very good communication skills.
Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends.
Ability to follow recipes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time position. Work hours will be scheduled to accommodate a 24/7 inpatient facility.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in an inpatient facility kitchen environment. This role routinely uses standard cleaning equipment and various kitchen utensils and equipment. Cook is expected to be professional at all times both with co-workers and persons served.
