    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The YMCA Preschool Program is designed to support the growth and success of children cognitively, physically, emotionally and socially. Using developmentally appropriate materials, curriculum and activities in a play based environment, your child will be supported in learning social skills, Kindergarten readiness skills and engage in physical activities. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Preschool Teacher will assist in the supervision of children ages 6 months to 5 years of age, plan and implement activities for participants for the Preschool at the Copley-Price Family YMCA branch location.  </p>\n<ul>\n <li>This position is for a Preschool/Floater Teacher, </li>\n <li>The Preschool Teacher will be assisting with providing breaks and preparation for teachers, while also helping in all classrooms/ages (6 months to 5 years of age)</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>For more on Y Employee Perks, click on this link: Employee Benefits | YMCA of San Diego County (ymcasd.org)</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Schedule:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Location: Copley-Price Family YMCA</li>\n <li>Preschool runs Monday-Friday, year-round </li>\n <li>Work schedule is Monday through Friday from 12pm-5pm</li>\n <li>Possible opportunity to work more hours, when there are call-outs or Full Time teacher requests time off</li>\n <li>Part-time </li>\n <li>Specific age enrolled : 6 months - 5 years of age</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>General housekeeping of program space and food preparation</li>\n <li>Plan and coordinate activities that fit children's developmental needs and interests</li>\n <li>Record and monitor the daily activities of children in your care</li>\n <li>Assist in the planning and preparation of the creative learning environment, establishment of interest centers, and preparation of needed material and supplies</li>\n <li>Communicate with parents effectively and create a positive relationship</li>\n <li>Interact with children being consistent, fair and treating them with dignity and respect according to the YMCA Code of Conduct</li>\n <li>Comply with Community Care Licensing regulations at all times</li>\n <li>Maintain the cleanliness and health standards of the environment at all times</li>\n <li>Ensure the supervision and safety of children at all times</li>\n <li>Plan and implement daily schedule and curriculum</li>\n <li>Plan, supervise and implement the program in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA</li>\n <li>Follow emergency procedures appropriately to ensure the safety of the participants and staff</li>\n <li>Must be highly dependable</li>\n <li>Must have sincere interest in working with children 2-5 years of age</li>\n <li>Must have a warm and friendly personality and the sensitivity to meet the needs of a diverse population</li>\n <li>Must have willingness to fulfill the job responsibilities in accordance to the program and branch goals</li>\n <li>Physical ability to lift children as needed, change and clean a soiled child, interact and direct play</li>\n <li>Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation</li>\n <li>Physical ability to lead sports, games and curriculum activities, monitor behavior and general housekeeping responsibilities</li>\n <li>Ability to relate to children and adults in a professional manner. Ability to provide leadership and stability to the program</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned needs to be included to all roles</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>12 CORE units of Early Childhood Education (ECE) required, AA or BA in Early Childhood Education are highly desirable\n  <ul>\n   <li>ECE Core courses include: Child Growth & Development, Child, Family and Community and Program/Curriculum</li>\n   <li>At least 6 of the units must be Infant/Toddler classes</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Minimum of 6 months experience working with youth in a preschool setting</li>\n <li>Criminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to reporting to work and signing a statement regarding criminal convictions</li>\n <li>A physical exam and negative TB test results within 7 days of hire</li>\n <li>Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire, unless specified otherwise on contract, and must be from one of the following:\n  <ul>\n   <li>American Red Cross</li>\n   <li>American Heart Association</li>\n   <li>American Safety & Health Institute</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>YMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act. You do not need to disclose your criminal history or participate in a background check until a conditional job offer is made to you.
