Description
The Industrial Engineer, Director of Process Improvement for Supply Chain is responsible for designing standardized supply chain processes and ensuring their consistent execution across the organization.
This role focuses on building capability in frontline teams by training staff, monitoring adherence, and driving sustained performance improvement. The Industrial Engineer serves as the owner of supply chain operating standards, ensuring processes are followed, measured, and continuously improved.
The Director acts as a leader for the department in day-to-day activities, and serves as a mentor and subject matter expert to other department executives and managers.
Responsibilities
1. Oversees Training & Capability Development. Develop and deliver training programs for supply chain staff, create standardized training materials, SOPs, and job aids. Lead onboarding and ongoing competency validation. Coach staff on Lean principles and process adherence. Partner with clinical teams to support workflow understanding
2. Drive Process Standardization & Governance. Design and document standardized supply chain processes, establish consistent expectations across departments and facilities, Maintain and update SOPs based on improvements.
3. Oversees Performance Monitoring & Compliance. Define and track frontline KPIs (PAR accuracy, scan compliance, stockouts, etc.), Conduct audits and observational assessments, Provide feedback and escalate performance issues.
4. Strive Continuous Improvement Enablement. Identify performance gaps and root causes, Facilitate structured problem-solving (A3, Kaizen), Ensure improvements are standardized and sustained.
5. Achieve Clinical Workflow Alignment. Ensure supply chain processes support clinical workflows, Monitor product standardization adoption, Partner with nursing and perioperative leaders.
6. Collaborate Performance & Value Realization. Ensure cost-saving initiatives are implemented and sustained, Monitor contract compliance and utilization, Track realized vs. projected savings.
7. Foster internal partnerships and collaborate with Digital Technology and Partners, Decision Support teams, and other system business intelligence and analytics teams in streamlining data structure, acquisition, and management processes to optimize operations efficiency
8. Plans and executes complex data analysis to support leadership decision making in a variety of subject matter areas, including: process measures and performance metrics, scheduling, resource utilization, labor and productivity, quality measures, patient satisfaction measures, and demographic data
9. Performs other duties as required by senior leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelors' degree (Masters Preferred) 7+ years of combined professional experience and/or graduate-level education relevant to healthcare operations, data analysis, strategic planning and process improvement including at least two years of directly managing staff or in a consulting model Preferred experience 3-5yrs ERP Process and Data experience, Oracle cloud Certification and/or working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies is a plus. Lean certification preferred
Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $150,000.00 -$230,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
