    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><div><div><div><div><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>Code Enforcement Inspector</strong></p><p><strong>Pontiac, MI</strong></p><p><strong>FLSA: Non-Exempt</strong></p><p><strong>Salary: $28.85 an hour</strong></p><p><strong>Part Time</strong></p><p><strong><u>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</u></strong> An employee in this class may be called upon to do any or all of the following: (These examples do not include <u>all</u> of the tasks which the employee may be expected to perform).</p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Inspect rental dwellings to ensure compliance with the <em>Municipal Code</em>, the <em>Zoning Ordinance</em> and <em>International Property Maintenance Codes;</em> send out notifications of deficiencies and gain compliance.</li><li>Inspect all properties including exterior property areas for compliance of the <em>Municipal Code</em>, the <em>Zoning Ordinance</em> and <em>International Property Maintenance Codes</em> while in the field and take necessary action to gain compliance.</li><li>Advise owners, occupants and contractors of the applicable codes, ordinances and regulations they must follow to gain compliance.</li><li>Prepare and maintain detailed records of inspections, complaints and investigations and prepare reports as directed.</li><li>Gather and prepare evidence related to dangerous buildings, attend and testify at Hearing Officer Case and Board of Appeals.</li><li>Testify in court proceedings to gain compliance in the enforcement of the <em>Municipal Code</em>, the <em>Zoning Ordinance</em> and <em>International Property Maintenance Code&nbsp;</em>as adopted by the City of Pontiac.</li><li>Perform related work as assigned.</li><li>Perform data entry&nbsp;</li><li>Post stop works orders on un-permitted or unauthorized work.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong><u>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:&nbsp;</u></strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Considerable knowledge of the laws, ordinances, and codes dealing with; the <em>Municipal Code</em>, the <em>Zoning Ordinance</em> and <em>International Property Maintenance Code&nbsp;</em>Municipal Code.</li><li>Considerable knowledge of inspection methods, practices and techniques pertaining to any and all structures and exterior property areas.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret plans specifications and blueprints.</li><li>Ability to detect differences and other faults and to appraise the quality of workmanship.</li><li>Ability to prepare, maintain, accurate and comprehensive written records.</li><li>Ability to respond to citizen&rsquo;s inquiries and complaints in a manner, which results in a satisfactory resolution of, said inquiries and complaints.</li><li>Ability to learn, understand and explain to the public the Municipal Code, Zoning ordinances and the international Property Maintenance Codes.</li><li>Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time on a daily basis, to climb stairs in buildings inspected, to drive to and from inspection sites, and to work outside in inclement weather and in areas exposed to dust, dirt and pollen.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to operate the Microsoft office suite of products</li><li>Ability to perform data entry and follow set processes&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong><u>A CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER SHALL HAVE THE FOLLOWING TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:</u></strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Graduation from an accredited high school, supplemented by at least (2-5) years of practical work experience or equivalent involving public contacts in Code Enforcement, Zoning Enforcement and/or Rental Inspections.</li><li>Licenses: A valid State of Michigan vehicle operator&rsquo;s license and a satisfactory driving record.</li></ul></div></div></div></div></div></div>\n",
