    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p><p>East Tennessee State University Department of Music seeks a lecturer of applied voice to begin on August 15, 2026. The successful candidate will teach weekly applied lessons at the undergraduate and graduate levels and oversee student degree recitals. Other courses may be assigned based on candidate strengths, including vocal pedagogy, art song literature, opera theatre, and class voice. Candidates with experience in commercial, jazz, and/or non-Western musical traditions are strongly encouraged to apply.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Teach weekly undergraduate applied lessons at the undergraduate and graduate levels</li><li>Develop syllabi, other course materials, and submit course grades in a timely manner</li><li>Attend and assess vocal juries each semester</li><li>Attend vocal studio events, including degree recitals, ensemble concerts, studio recitals, department recital hour, and faculty recitals</li><li>Attend and assess prospective student auditions</li><li>Recruit vocal students at the undergraduate and graduate levels</li><li>Teach percussion ensemble and percussion methods depending on departmental needs and candidate expertise/availability</li></ul><p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Earned masters degree in vocal performance or vocal pedagogy</li><li>Studio teaching experience including collegiate-level instruction</li><li>Record of high-level musicianship in solo, chamber, and/or ensemble settings</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Commitment to student recruitment and growth/stability of vocal studio</li><li>Experience in commercial, jazz, and/or non-Western traditions</li></ul><p><strong>Compensation</strong></p><ul><li>$48,000 base salary</li><li>Competitive retirement and health insurance package</li></ul><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\"><span style=\"color: black;\"><strong>Application Instructions</strong></span></p><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">&nbsp;</p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\"><span style=\"color: black;\">Exempt positions are only required to be posted for a minimum of fourteen (14) calendar days.
