Will work independently, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of accounting and data analytics in area of responsibility. Will take ownership for quality results, will exercise judgement to determine the best approach to achieve desired outcomes, will think critically to anticipate and detect issues, will identify, design, and drive system and process improvements, and will utilize strong analytical skills to solve complex accounting and data reporting problems.\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Core Reporting Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>GAAP financial reporting — Preparation of quarterly unaudited and annual audited U.S. GAAP financial statements and footnotes</li>\n <li>Statutory reporting — Preparation of NAIC statutory statements, MD&A, and required annual schedules</li>\n <li>IFRS reporting — Preparation of quarterly President’s Report (CEO/CFO Report), IFRS financial statements, and supplemental reporting for Fairfax</li>\n <li>External audit coordination — Primary liaison with external auditors; management of audit requests</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Technical accounting research and compliance — Monitoring and implementing FASB updates, GAAP Codification and NAIC SSAPs changes, and emerging accounting standards</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Internal controls and documentation — Maintaining internal control support, process documentation, and audit evidence</li>\n <li>Footnote and disclosure preparation — Drafting disclosures, supporting schedules, and cross‑statement tie‑outs</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Technical accounting research — Evaluating new guidance and updating disclosures</li>\n <li>Disclosure consistency management — Ensuring alignment across GAAP, STAT, and IFRS</li>\n <li>Audit and regulatory support — Responding to auditor inquiries and regulatory requests</li>\n <li>Going concern and SAS 136 assessments</li>\n <li>401(k) plan financial statement reviews</li>\n <li>IFRS reporting package and supplemental schedules</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Year‑Round Audit Coordination</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>PBC list management and request tracking</li>\n <li>Audit committee materials preparation</li>\n <li>Manage/coordinate issuance of the audit opinion and financial statements</li>\n <li>Continuous audit cycle — External auditors are onsite from June through the following May requiring heavy liaising</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Operational Responsibilities Beyond Reporting</strong></p>\n<p>Financial Reporting also manages critical recurring operational processes, including:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Monthly expense analysis, accruals, and intercompany analysis</li>\n <li>Intercompany wire settlements and invoice processing</li>\n <li>Monthly cash reconciliations</li>\n <li>Quarterly ZNIC variance analysis</li>\n <li>Consolidation and close activities for quarterly and annual close processes</li>\n <li>Recurring journal entries (debt, intangibles)</li>\n <li>Parent‑only financial statements</li>\n <li>SAB 108 schedules</li>\n <li>IFRS/GAAP/STAT rollforwards in Workiva</li>\n <li>Providing Internal Audit support and control documentation</li>\n <li>Dividend capacity schedules and DOI correspondence</li>\n <li>Debt covenant compliance documents</li>\n <li>Maintenance of internal‑use reporting schedules and workbooks</li>\n <li>Annual IFRS accounting checklist, GAAP quarterly disclosure checklist, GAAP ASU Log</li>\n <li>Fairfax certifications and monitoring quarterly changes to Fairfax reporting structures</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul></ul>\n<h2>Education</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>High School Diploma or equivalent required</li>\n <li>Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of training/experience in Accounting/Finance/Economics or related field required</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Work Experience</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>7+ years relevant, progressively responsible accounting/financial analysis experience or 3+ years of public accounting experience required</li>\n <li>CPA certificate or an MBA preferred</li>\n <li>GAAP, IFRS or SEC experience preferred</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Insurance industry experience <strong>strongly </strong>preferred.</li>\n <li>Oracles EBS experience a plus.</li>\n <li>Work effectively with multiple departments to resolve issues related to billing, payments, documentation, approvals and Company policies.</li>\n <li>Strong math and reading skills.</li>\n <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li>\n <li>Adaptable to the changing needs of the department.</li>\n <li>Willing to assume new responsibilities as they arise and replace old routines with improved methods of problem solving.</li>\n <li>Ability to think creatively and effectively manage time (i.e., prioritize work and handle multiple assignments simultaneously).</li>\n <li>Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a team.</li>\n <li>Ability to communicate with customers at all levels about the company's policies.</li>\n <li>Highly ethical standards (integrity and confidentiality).</li>\n <li>Strong work ethic and flexibility to meet established/changing deadlines.</li>\n <li>Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Outlook.</li>\n <li>Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.</li>\n <li>Detail oriented, organized, analytical and thorough with a demonstrated ability to implement cost effective processes and controls.</li>\n <li>Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated strong ability to process, analyze and extrapolate complex data.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Pay, Benefits, and Other Information</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The expected salary range for this position is $112,614.69 - $140,769.62. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law.
