    "description": "<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>POSITION SUMMARY</strong></p>\n<p>Plan, implement and evaluate nursing care provided, including restorative care for residents in a manner that is reflective the ESCC Core Values.  As the direct care provider of health services, he/she shares appropriate information with all other health services staff in an effort to assist each resident in achieving his/her maximum level of development.</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p>\n<p><em>Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is an essential function of the position.</em></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Promotes Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission and Core Values of Respecting and Embracing Diversity, Excellence, Collaboration, Innovation, Evolution, Growth and Change and Loving Relationships by bringing these values to life in the organization.</p></li>\n <li>Utilizing the nursing process, the RN assesses the resident, plans intervention and evaluates the outcome of care provided.</li>\n <li>Performs treatments and special care as required, ex. tracheotomy care, central venous lines, oxygen administration, cast care, dressing changes, etc.</li>\n <li>Administer medication and immunization as ordered.</li>\n <li>Confer with physician or other health team members regarding patient care management.</li>\n <li>Assist the physician in performing physical examinations and treatments.</li>\n <li>Evaluate the effects of prescribed treatment including orthotics and report same to appropriate disciplines.</li>\n <li>Observe, report and record abnormal vital signs, seizures activity, other disease manifestations and other clinically significant data.</li>\n <li>Implement plan of care as outlines in the resident’s Interdisciplinary Care Plan including positioning, play, feeding techniques, behavior modifications plan etc.</li>\n <li>Participate in completing MDS. Revised care plan as resident condition changes.</li>\n <li>Assumes the role of nurse in charge of a unit for the shift as assigned</li>\n <li>Educate residents and families with regard to their treatment plan</li>\n <li>Document interventions and teaching outcomes accurately and timely</li>\n <li>Maintain a safe therapeutic resident care environment.</li>\n <li>Directs and supervises CNAs, unit a clerk, LPN and other RN’s when in charge.</li>\n <li>Establishes effective working relations with staff residents and family members.</li>\n <li>Ensures that the Center and the Department of Nursing policies and procedures are follow in the planning implementation and evaluation of care.</li>\n <li>Review medication administration records for completeness at end of shift.</li>\n <li>Give and receives the nursing report and follow through on any special instructions.</li>\n <li>When in charge makes periodic checks to ensure that prescribed treatments are being properly administered by LPN’s and CNAs and to evaluate the residents physical and emotional status.</li>\n <li>Participates in the orientation of new staff residents and families to the unit.</li>\n <li>Carries out restorative and rehabilitative programs including teaching resident to wash/feed/dress self as appropriate.</li>\n <li>Ensures that the facility policy on the use of restraints is followed and that documentation is timely and accurate.</li>\n <li>Ensure that the unit is kept clean free from clutter and that the supply room door is kept locked; request the supervisor’s intervention as necessary to achieve this.</li>\n <li>Follows infection control standards and ensures that assigned personnel do likewise.</li>\n <li>Keep abreast of new nursing policies and procedures.</li>\n <li>Keep nurses notes, plan of care and all other documentation pertaining to your assigned resident timely accurate and complete.</li>\n <li>Carries out end of shift responsibility e.g. supplies are available for next shift’. Unit is clean and tidy; all documentation is complete and accurate.</li>\n <li>Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education Requirements:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Graduate of an accredited RN program.</li>\n <li>New York State RN License Required</li>\n <li>New York State RN Registration Certificate Required</li>\n <li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nursing preferred</li>\n <li>Current BCLS certification</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Experience</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>One (1) year clinical experience in a pediatric and/or adolescent chronic /rehabilitative care facility preferred.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Employee Requirements:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.</li>\n <li>Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies.</li>\n <li>Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination.</li>\n <li>Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds.</li>\n <li>Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident’s blood/body fluids.</li>\n <li>Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area.</li>\n <li>Will be subject to frequent interruptions.</li>\n <li>May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Salary Range:</strong></p>\n<p>$117,204.63/Yr to $141,254.63/Yr</p>",
