Title: Adjunct Instructor- Various General Education Courses Courses Available Include: Introduction to Psychology Generative AI Humanities Introduction to Behavioral Health Introduction to Computer Information Systems Department: Academic Affairs- General Education Reports to: General Education Program Director Job Status: Adjunct- various modalities Hours of Work: Varies by Term Position Overview The General Education Department is seeking qualified Adjunct Instructors to teach undergraduate General Education courses across multiple modalities, including online, hybrid, and face-to-face (f2f). Successful candidates will be committed to high quality instruction, inclusive pedagogy, and the effective support of diverse student populations, including first generation students, adult learners, multilingual students, and students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. This role supports the institution’s Institutional Student Learning Outcomes (ISLOs), and instructors are expected to design and deliver learning experiences that advance student development in: Professional Competence Communication Analytical Thinking Respect for Diversity Leadership Collaboration Career Development Ethical Use of Technology Job Description Primary Responsibilities Teach General Education courses in online, hybrid, and/or face-to-face (f2f) formats as assigned. Deliver inclusive, student-centered instruction that supports a diverse learner population. Integrate and assess Institutional Student Learning Outcomes (ISLOs) within course activities, assignments, and engagement strategies. Provide timely and meaningful feedback to promote student learning, growth, and persistence. Maintain accurate records and communication in accordance with institutional policies. Participate in required training, meetings, and assessment activities. (Optional SME Work) Collaborate on course builds, revisions, and content evaluation. Engage in tutoring. Update attendance on a daily basis Assessment of Learning Outcomes Assess learning objectives of the program of study based upon the Annual Assessment of Student Learning Plan. Accreditation and Compliance Support activities that ensure compliance of accreditation rules, regulations, and mandates. Comply with all policies and requirements of the College as set forth in the Faculty Handbook. Ensure all safety rules are posted and followed in lab areas. Ensure that all activities are conducted in an ethical and legal manner. Identify and implement best practices to demonstrate Standards of Excellence as defined by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Maintain the highest level of integrity in all academic matters. Provide support on Middle States Commission on Higher Education committees. Support the strategic goals of the College. Minimum Qualifications College-level teaching experience (online and/or f2f; online preferred). Demonstrated expertise in relevant subject area(s). Commitment to teaching and supporting diverse student populations. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive pedagogy. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in a related field; degree preferred for certain disciplines. Experience teaching or integrating Institutional Student Learning Outcomes (ISLOs) into curriculum. Curriculum development or course design experience in higher education. Familiarity with LMS platforms (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, D2L). Experience with digital literacy, generative AI, or instructional technology tools. Ability to collaborate effectively with instructional designers and project teams. Pennsylvania Institute of Technology shall, in its discretion, modify or adjust the position to meet the school’s changing needs. This job description is not a contract and may be adjusted as deemed appropriate in the employer’s sole discretion. Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (P.I.T.) has a policy regarding post-offer background screening for all appropriate faculty, staff, and volunteers of the College. This policy includes but is not limited to verifying credentials, criminal history, credit status, and other information related to employment decisions. The College requires all new employees to have successfully completed background clearances. New employees must complete the background clearances prior to hire and, for those employees having direct contact with minors other than those described above, prior to the time they will begin having direct contact with minors and every 60 months thereafter. The College also reserves the right to require any employee to have a background check in its discretion during employment. Clearances required include a PA Statewide Criminal Record search, PA Child Abuse History, and FBI Criminal History record fingerprint search. A criminal record may be considered justification not to hire or for employment termination, depending upon the circumstances and record. Pay listed is per course.
