    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p>Powell is a manufacturer of switchgear and other electrical equipment. We are seeking a Quality Inspector for our location in Southeast Houston! Four 10s schedule: Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm</p><p>A Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that products or services meet established quality standards and specifications. They perform visual, mechanical and electrical inspections, tests, and audits to identify any defects or deviations from quality requirements. Quality Inspectors use various tools and techniques to measure and evaluate the quality of materials, components, and finished products. They document and report any non-conformities and work closely with production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions. Additionally, they may participate in the development and improvement of quality control processes and procedures.</p><p><strong>Essential Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Learn and be able to perform internal and customer factory acceptance testing to include visual, mechanical and electrical inspections, and testing of all equipment manufactured at Powell facilities according to Powell Standards.</li><li>Perform tests using equipment such as multimeter, clamp-on-meter, voltage detector, Hi-Pot, etc.</li><li>Program and operate electronic equipment such as microprocessor-based relays.</li><li>Energize Powell electrical products and other buyout equipment such as service Panels, HVAC, Battery Chargers, UPS System, etc.</li><li>Perform equipment failure investigations and root cause analysis.</li><li>Complete and maintain all test Quality Control documentation as required.</li><li>Perform maintenance on test equipment as needed.</li><li>Interaction with all departments (sales, engineering, production control, fabrication, PCR, switchgear, shipping) including customers to work to resolve quality related issues.</li><li>Interaction with all departments during production, final inspection and final release to shipping is required.</li><li>External relationships may include regular interaction with other Powell subsidiaries, suppliers and customers.</li><li>Record Engineering and Shop discrepancies, non-conformities and material shortages utilizing Powell systems.</li><li>Participates in continuous improvement projects.</li><li>Promote a safety culture as well as attend all safety meetings.</li><li>Ensure Powell employees, suppliers and customers adhere to safety rules and PPE requirements.</li><li>Ensure quality by following standard work instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.</li><li>Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized.</li><li>Learn and understand basic electrical principles and relevant Mechanical experience.</li></ul><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>High School Diploma or General Education Diploma, or a Trade School diploma or certificate</li><li>Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in manufacturing environment.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to read engineering documentation and drawings including specification sheets, wiring diagrams, schematics, three-line drawings, wiring lists and part drawings.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Experience in Quality inspection for electrical or electronic equipment or components preferred</li><li>Basic experience working with industry codes and standards and able to refer to applicable codes.</li></ul><p><strong>Skills, Abilities &amp; Other Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Ability to apply industry standards as applicable to job and product.</li><li>Able to read and interpret electrical symbols, characters, and drawings.&nbsp;</li><li>Able to apply product knowledge and technical skills to aid in problem solving.&nbsp;</li><li>Basic computer skills using Oracle, Word, Excel and Access.&nbsp;</li><li>Develop the ability to answer technical questions from shop, inspectors, and customers.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to interact on a regular basis with shop, inspection, engineering, sales and shipping personnel.&nbsp;</li><li>Actively seeks out self-development through internal or external programs that contributes to knowledge, skill and abilities.</li><li>Demonstrates integrity and ethical decision making.</li><li>Conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks.</li><li>Able to work effectively within a team and around other departments and their activities.</li><li>Ability to learn and adhere to all manufacturing policies and practices to ensure adherence to ISO requirements.</li><li>Must be proficient in the English language, both written and verbal.</li></ul><p><strong>Working &amp; Environmental Conditions</strong></p><p><strong>Working Conditions</strong></p><ul><li>Safety sensitive position in a temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.</li><li>Required to always wear personnel protective equipment (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses and respirators) when required.</li><li>Working at a desk and computer in an office environment is required.</li><li>Must be able to work from all types of ladders (step ladders, \"A\" frame ladders and all size extension ladders) and scaffolding.</li><li>Working at heights usually no higher than 30 feet in the air or using proper lift equipment.</li></ul><p><strong>Physical Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.</li><li>Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.</li><li>Continuous standing, walking 50–300-foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.</li><li>Must be able to climb stairs frequently throughout the shift.</li><li>Able to frequently look over shoulders, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.</li><li>Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force continuously up to 50lbs.</li><li>Ability to use hand tools such as tin snips, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating), for long periods of time with frequent repetition.</li></ul><p><strong>More Information</strong></p><p>This job description outlines the essential functions of the job and does not contain a comprehensive list of all possible responsibilities, tasks, and duties.</p><p><strong>*Posted position does not provide visa sponsorship or relocation.</strong></p><p><strong>#LI-KC1</strong></p>",
