Join us and be part of something extraordinary.</span></p><p><span>We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Software Engineering Manager to join our Developer Experience (DevEx) team. This role is located in Pittsburgh, PA.</span></p><p><span>In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:</span></p><ul><li><span>Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing Build Engineering team, setting clear technical direction and career growth paths.</span></li><li><span>Oversee the architecture and implementation of BNY’s central build automation platform, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security.</span></li><li><span>Create developer-friendly templates, quick start guides, and troubleshooting tools to help feature teams quickly create performant, transparent, and compliant build automation.</span></li><li><span>Optimize developer workflows by streamlining build orchestration, dependency management, and CI/CD pipelines to accelerate software delivery while reducing friction.</span></li><li><span>Drive observability and resilience by integrating telemetry, analytics, and automated remediation into build systems to proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks and failures.</span></li><li><span>Champion secure software supply chain practices, artifact management standards, and consistent build strategies across the enterprise.</span></li><li><span>Partner closely with Product Management, SRE, Security, and application engineering teams to ensure alignment with developer needs and organizational priorities.</span></li><li><span>Foster innovation by evaluating and adopting emerging technologies, including AI-assisted build optimization and intelligent failure diagnosis.</span></li><li><span>Define and track key metrics such as build success rate, duration, cost efficiency, adoption rates, and developer satisfaction to continuously improve the platform.</span></li></ul><p><span>To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:</span></p><ul><li><span>Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred</span></li><li><span>10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role managing engineering teams.</span></li><li><span>Expert-level competency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Go, JavaScript, Python).</span></li><li><span>Proven expertise with modern build automation and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Bazel, Gradle, Maven).</span></li><li><span>Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to set architectural direction and drive complex initiatives across teams.</span></li><li><span>Experience delivering large-scale, mission-critical developer platforms in an enterprise or high-scale environment.</span></li><li><span>Excellent collaboration and communication skills, able to engage effectively with engineers, architects, and executives.</span></li></ul><p><span>Preferred qualifications include:</span></p><ul><li><span>Background in Developer Experience (DevEx), Platform Engineering, or Build/Release Engineering.</span></li><li><span>Experience with artifact repositories (e.g., Artifactory, Nexus) and secure software supply chain practices.</span></li><li><span>Knowledge of observability systems, telemetry frameworks, and performance optimization for build pipelines.</span></li><li><span>Exposure to AI/ML-driven build acceleration and failure prediction tooling.</span></li><li><span>Prior hands-on software development experience building customer-facing features.</span></li></ul>",
