    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Binnie is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our Ports &amp; Industrial Division, where practical engineering leadership meets real‑world impact. From concept through construction, our team delivers integrated project management, design, and construction services for complex port and industrial environments. Our work includes underground utilities, industrial wastewater and pumping systems, mechanical piping and distribution, dust mitigation systems, and essential site infrastructure such as roads, rail, fencing, and on‑site facilities—supporting safe, efficient, and resilient operations for our clients.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">This is a full‑time position based at our Burnaby head office near scenic Deer Lake, home to one of Binnie’s largest and most collaborative teams. The role offers a hybrid working environment, balancing in‑office collaboration with flexible work options.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">You are an experienced civil design engineer with a proven track record delivering complex infrastructure projects. You bring a strong appreciation for constructability, quality, and client service. Beyond technical excellence, you are a relationship‑builder with established client contacts and who is comfortable identifying opportunities, nurturing long‑term partnerships, and helping grow new work fronts within the ports and industrial sector.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">You will lead design and production efforts, act as Engineer of Record, and provide technical and professional leadership to Project Managers, designers, technologists, and inspection staff throughout the project lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with division leadership on resourcing, proposal development, and strategic growth, while mentoring emerging technical talent within the team.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">YOUR ROLE:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Lead civil engineering design from conceptual planning through detailed construction drawings</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Serve as Engineer of Record, signing and sealing drawings, letters, and reports</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Review and approve design calculations, drawings, and technical documentation</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Supervise and guide the preparation of complex design deliverables using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related tools</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and direction to engineering and technical staff</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Support Project Managers with scope definition, scheduling, and fee proposal development</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Undertake quality control and ensure compliance with Binnie’s Organizational Quality Management Program</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Leverage existing client relationships and proactively develop new client connections and opportunities</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Participate in business development activities, including client meetings, proposals, and pursuits</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Contribute to the strategic growth of the Ports &amp; Industrial Division</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">WHAT YOU BRING:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in port, industrial, and/or municipal infrastructure projects</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Terminals, industrial sites, and port experience is an asset</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC or eligible for immediate registration</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Demonstrated experience acting as Engineer of Record on complex infrastructure projects</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Strong working knowledge of Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and relevant hydraulic or piping analysis software</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Proven client management experience, with established industry contacts and trusted relationships</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Ability to attract new work, identify opportunities, and support business growth initiatives</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Excellent communication, leadership, and time‑management skills</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Confidence delivering high‑quality work with minimal supervision</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">ABOUT BINNIE:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">We are the people behind the infrastructure you use every day.
