To be successful in this role you will have a strong understanding of the engineering environment in electrical design of High Voltage/Medium Voltage substations for Utilities and industrial clients and will be working with multi-disciplinary teams to design in accordance with clients’ requirements and applicable codes and standards. This is a hybrid position that will be based out of our Vancouver, BC Calgary or Edmonton, AB offices.</p><p><strong>Primary Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Lead development of preliminary and detailed design drawings (e.g. SLD, general arrangements, elevations, installation details, etc) for HV and MV substations for Utilities and industrial installations;</li><li>Perform/Review electrical calculations and equipment sizing for various electrical equipment such as power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, busbars, etc.;</li><li>Perform/Review sizing calculation of power cable and cable tray/trenches routing design;</li><li>Prepare technical reports and equipment specifications (HV and MV equipment) for procurement;</li><li>Review of manufacturers’ equipment drawings;</li><li>Design and calculation of AC and DC auxiliary systems including single line diagram, load calculations, distribution drawings, voltage drop calculations, battery sizing. etc.;</li><li>Develop schedules and engineering cost estimates for proposals;</li><li>Produce/Review bills of materials;</li><li>Perform site visits to validate scope requirements and determine existing conditions, inspect construction prepare site survey reports, and participate in commissioning activities (occasionally)</li><li>Liaise with clients, regulatory authorities, and utilities</li><li>Ensure designs conform to all applicable codes, client standards and CIMA’s quality management system</li><li>Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders either internal or external</li><li>Assist in training junior staff</li><li>Perform and assist with additional duties and tasks based on project requirements</li><li>Collaborate with the client's engineering team in addressing challenging, complex, or unusual engineering issues, providing solutions-oriented support to effectively manage and mitigate engineering risks.</li></ul>",

          "text": "<ul><li>6&#xa0;+years of experience in electrical layout, preferably with large canadian Utilities</li><li>A bachelor degree diploma in electrical engineering (power system specialization preferred).</li><li>Professional registered member of Engineer and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) or Alberta (APEGA) or have the ability to register.</li><li>Advanced experience with electrical design for electric utility substations</li><li>Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, IEEE and Canadian Utility standards</li><li>Valid Canadian Driver’s License</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Knowledge of French is an asset</li><li>Excellent problem solving skills, capability to work independently and in a team, detail oriented, and self-motivated</li><li>Client focused and flexible to respond to short notice assignments and to project based client demands</li><li>Ability to manage and mentor junior engineers and technologists</li></ul><p><strong>Why choose CIMA+?
