    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>Shift: 7a-5:30p</strong></p>\n<h2>Description</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>The EEG Technologist II is an entry to mid-level position in the neurophysiology department.</li>\n <li>The EEG Technologist II will perform EEG procedures according to Emory Healthcare policy and procedures.</li>\n <li>The EEG Technologist II is competent in performing the following studies: rEEG, cEEG, aEEG, NCV, PET, WADA, and TILT.</li>\n <li>The EEG Technologist II will maintain patient safety during clinically significant events, and other related duties.</li>\n <li>Communication through technical impressions of EEGs performed and appropriate escalation of communication of clinically relevant events in real time is essential.</li>\n <li>Must participate in on-call rotation at designated locations.</li>\n <li>Maintains optimal recording integrity, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, etc.</li>\n <li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li>\n <li>During EEG procedures for which competence has not been achieved, the EEG Technologist II trains under direct technical supervision.</li>\n <li>Once training is completed and all required institution competencies have been achieved, the EEG Technologist II works under indirect technical supervision.</li>\n <li>Performs rEEG, cEEG, aEEG, NCV, PET, WADA, TILT according to ACNS guidelines.</li>\n <li>Perform test set up, collects patient history, measure/mark/apply electrodes as per 10-20 guidelines, acquire EEG data, provide tech impression of EEG recording, and maintain patient safety during clinically relevant events.</li>\n <li>Observes patient with video recording equipment; ensuring camera is focused, lighting levels and microphone are appropriately set to record the best possible recording.</li>\n <li>Live monitors with the use of qEEG the recording integrity performing repairs as needed and alerting appropriate staff to relevant events.</li>\n <li>Documents relevant clinically significant events and identifies electrically significant EEG patterns, and follows facility policies and procedures regarding communicating critical test results.</li>\n <li>Edits and prunes master EEG files.</li>\n <li>Monitors quality of EEG being acquired, troubleshoots acquisition equipment to identify and eliminate or monitor artifacts as they occur to ensure quality recording.</li>\n <li>Communicates at shift-hand-off pertinent information regarding pending orders and currently recording patients and any other information that ensures a smooth transition of care between technologists.</li>\n <li>Ensures EEG equipment is clean, stocked and ready for deployment at all times when not in use.</li>\n <li>Completes all administrative tasks associated with performing neurodiagnostic procedures.</li>\n <li>Monitors par stock levels of supplies, restocking when needed.</li>\n <li>Participates in on-call rotation.</li>\n <li>Participates in research projects, conferences, department in-services/lectures earning at least 10 ACE CEUs per year.</li>\n <li>Other related duties as assigned that are consistent with patient and technical care for this level.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.</li>\n <li>High school graduate or equivalent; entry level PC or Microsoft Windows knowledge.</li>\n <li>The EEG Technologist II has a minimum of three years experience in performing electroencephalography.</li>\n <li>The EEG Technologist II provides findings, results, and a descriptive analysis according to ability policy and procedures.</li>\n <li>Strong well developed communication skills are essential or this position.</li>\n <li>The EEG Technologist II performs procedures appropriate to their competence and credentials held under general technical supervision.</li>\n <li>In addition to being BLS certified the EEG Tech II must have credential in electroencephalography (R. EEG T.).</li>\n <li>Two or more years experience in performing EEG procedures.</li>\n <li>Well-developed PC knowledge and skill.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required.
