POSITION TITLE: Title 1 Instructional Aide ELL
LOCATION: Havencroft Elementary
HOURS OF WORK: Monday-Friday - 7.0 hours per day, 171-day calendar
STARTING SALARY: $15.00 hourly
Required: 48 hours of college credit or the ability to pass the Title 1 assessment test
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing educational support for multilingual students. This position may assist in multiple grades and classrooms throughout the week. Position is responsible for assisting classroom teachers in establishing a classroom environment that ensures learning and personal growth of every student, establishing effective rapport with students, and motivating students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for becoming a responsible citizen in accordance with each student’s ability.
This position assists with instruction in a classroom which could include students with educational risk factors as well as students with special needs. The ability to form relationships with a wide variety of students and families is essential. Being able to receive guidance from the classroom teacher on how to differentiate instruction for a wide range of developmental needs is required. This position may work with students in whole group, small group, and individually on academic tasks assigned by the teacher.
This position may be assigned to student supervision duties including but not limited to lunchroom supervision and added support for certified staff members during recess duty. Additionally, they may be assigned to support the building office staff as needed.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess student growth and learning needs.
Collaborates with classroom teachers to meet instructional needs.
Coordinates with classroom teachers and the ELL teacher(s) to determine which students should be in small groups.
Gathers lesson materials and instructs students under the direction of the classroom and/or ELL teacher(s).
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or equivalent.
If the school building is classified as Title I, 48 hours of college credit or the ability to pass the Title I assessment test is required
Native or near-native proficiency in English.
Experience working with multilingual learners preferred
Experience working with elementary and/or secondary-aged students depending on the position.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
High degree of confidentiality, motivation, and responsibility.
Demonstrated ability in analyzing, compiling, and organizing data.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment.
Highly collaborative team player.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.).
Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the performance of light work. The position involves occasional lifting, sitting, standing, talking, and walking. The worker is required to have close visual acuity for the operation of learning technologies and relevant office equipment.
The position is performed in a generally hazard-free environment and a clean atmosphere.
