Employees in essential positions may be required to work during emergency closures and winter closures based on the nature of their job duties and the reasons for the closure.&nbsp;&nbsp;</b></p>\n</div>\n<p><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</b></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in gasoline-and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment using advanced diagnostic tools and software.</li>\n <li>Perform routine and complex maintenance tasks, including fluid changes, component replacements and general system checks.</li>\n <li>Conduct comprehensive inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure safe and efficient vehicle operation.</li>\n <li>Disassemble, inspect, repair, overhaul or rebuild components such as bearings, axle seals, brake systems, water and fuel pumps, compressors and radiators.</li>\n <li>Repair and rewire electrical systems; realign and adjust braking and suspension systems for optimal performance.</li>\n <li>Perform welding, cutting and minor bodywork repairs as required.</li>\n <li>Accurately document all maintenance and repair work, including labor and materials used, in compliance with operational standards.</li>\n <li>Interpret technical manuals, schematics and service bulletins to guide diagnostics and repair procedures.</li>\n <li>Ensure shop equipment is properly maintained and safe for daily use; adhere to all safety regulations and protocols during operations.</li>\n <li>Operate tools, equipment and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.</li>\n <li>Test-drive vehicles to verify the success of repairs and confirm functionality.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><b>SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:</b></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.</li>\n <li>Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational goals and objectives.</li>\n <li>Attend and participate in training and other personal professional development activities.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><b>COMPETENCIES:</b></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Attention to Detail</li>\n <li>Consistency</li>\n <li>Safety Awareness</li>\n <li>Adaptability</li>\n <li>Service Orientation</li>\n <li>Analysis/Problem Identification</li>\n</ul>\n<p><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</b></p>\n<p><b>Education:&nbsp;</b> High School diploma or GED, Vocational School, on-the-job training or associate’s degree</p>\n<p><b>Experience:&nbsp; </b>0-2 years working experience</p>\n<p><b>Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:</b></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Valid Class C driver’s license with motor vehicle (MVR) that is compliant with the <a href=\"https://www.uwyo.edu/regs-policies/_files/docs/policies/uw-sap-7-9.10-vehicle-sap-driver-portion-approved4-27-22.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Driving for University Business SAP</a>.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Ability to obtain First/Aid CPR certification within 12 months of hire</li>\n <li>Ability to obtain ASE Entry-level Technician (Automotive) within 12 months of hire, including the following: \n  <ul>\n   <li>ASE Automatic Transmission/Transaxle Certification</li>\n   <li>ASE Automobile Service Technology Certification</li>\n   <li>ASE Brakes Certification.</li>\n   <li>ASE Electrical/Electronic Systems Certification</li>\n   <li>ASE Engine Performance Certification</li>\n   <li>ASE Engine Repair Certification</li>\n   <li>ASE Heating and Air Conditioning Certification</li>\n   <li>ASE Manual Drive Train and Axles Certification</li>\n   <li>ASE Suspension and Steering Certification</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Must be able to pass all drug and/or alcohol screenings required by the UW Drug and Alcohol Policy and applicable DOT regulations</li>\n</ul>\n<p><b>DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  &nbsp;</b></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Basic mechanical knowledge, aptitude and trouble shooting</li>\n <li>Basic knowledge of shop maintenance policies and procedures</li>\n <li>Strong understanding of vehicle systems (engine, transmission, brakes, electrical)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><b>REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS: </b></p>\n<p>Complete the online application.&nbsp; The department additionally requests candidates upload the following document(s) for a complete application:&nbsp;</p>\n<ol>\n <li>Cover letter&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Resume or C.V.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Contact information for four work-related references (references will only be contacted if you are selected as a finalist for the position).&nbsp;</li>\n</ol>\n<div>\n <p><b>This position will remain open until filled.
