Description Are you ready to take an active role in a dynamic pharmacy department within a leading hospital? We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to support our pharmacists in ensuring the safe and efficient preparation, distribution, and management of medications across various units, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency room, and operating room settings. Location : Good Samaritan Hospital at 375 Dixmyth Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45220 Work Schedule: Full Time Night Shift 7 consecutive days working followed by 7 consecutive days off 10 hours shift Work hours between 8:00 PM and 6 AM Every other weekend and holiday rotation Incentives & Benefits: This position is classified as PRN/Optional and is not eligible for TriHealth benefits. Bonus Opportunity: This position qualifies for a $5,000 sign-on bonus with a 12-month commitment (external qualified candidates only). Minimum Job Requirements: To thrive in this role, you should have: High School Diploma or GED or GED is required . Associate or bachelor's Degree approved technical, professional, or vocational program (Preferred) Up to 1 year Pharmacy experience is required . 1 - 2 years Pharmacy; previous experience with computer applications and pharmacy automation is preferred (Preferred) Approved certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PCTB) and ExCPT Certification by the National Healthcareer Association - National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) is required Must be registered with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician required Job Overview: The Certified Inpatient Pharmacy Technician I supports pharmacists in ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely distribution of medications to hospitalized patients. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, selecting, counting, non-sterile compounding, packaging, labeling, and delivering medications. As an entry-level role, this position also involves maintaining inventory, operating pharmacy automation systems, and adhering to safety protocols and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Supports pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medications by performing a variety of technical tasks in accordance with department protocols and regulatory standards. Demonstrates competency through regular audits, observational checklists, and performance rounding. • Medication Preparation & Distribution accurately selects, counts, compounds (non-sterile), packages, scans, labels, fills, and delivers medications in compliance with departmental guidelines. • Non-sterile compounding performs weighing, measuring, and mixing of ingredients using proper calculations, equipment, and technique, ensuring accuracy and safety. • Automated Dispensing Machines: proficient in signing into systems, loading, refilling, unloading, managing expirations, and resolving discrepancies in ADCs. • Stock Orders/Emergency Carts/Boxes: accurately and efficiently fills medication orders and emergency supplies in a timely manner. • Delivery: ensures timely and accurate delivery of medications via tubing, cart runs, IV runs, and STAT deliveries. Verifies correct delivery location and proper storage (e.g., refrigeration, secure storage). Responsible for inventory control through proper removal of medications from automation, stock rotation, removal of expired medications, reordering/stocking of medications/supplies when stock is low, and packaging/assembling medications for future dispensing. Ensures safe storage of medications. *Verifies quantity on hand (QOH) and adjusts inventory records as necessary; promptly reports discrepancies to the on-site buyer *When inventory counts are incorrect, updates Omnicell with the correct quantity and earliest expiration date, and escalates significant discrepancies to the buyer *Notifies the buyer of increased usage trends in medications or supplies *Identifies medications frequently expiring and recommends PAR level adjustments to the buyer for evaluation *Ensures proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and follows safety protocols when handling hazardous medications *Maintains accurate inventory of controlled substances (CII–CV), including documentation and reconciliation of records. Immediately reports unresolved controlled substance discrepancies to a supervisor Adheres to departmental standards and ensures the effective use of pharmacy automation and electronic systems. *Follows established departmental policies, standard operating procedures, and workflows *Maintains pharmacy automation systems by performing routine tasks such as changing consumables and cleaning equipment *Identifies, troubleshoots, and reports issues related to pharmacy automation in a timely manner *Accesses patient information, processes pharmacy messages from the in-basket, and prints medication labels using the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system Communicates professionally and respectfully with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, patients, and other healthcare team members in person, over the phone, and in writing. *Effectively manages and triages requests, ensuring timely and appropriate follow-up *Escalates complex or unresolved issues to the on-duty pharmacist or pharmacy leadership *Reports errors promptly, maintains accurate documentation, and contributes to the development of corrective action plans *Consistently demonstrates the TriHealth Way, SERVE values, ALWAYS behaviors, and adheres to the 5 Safety Practices on. Demonstrates competency through regular audits, observational checklists, and performance rounding. • Medication Preparation &amp; Distribution accurately selects, counts, compounds (non-sterile), packages, scans, labels, fills, and delivers medications in compliance with departmental guidelines. • Non-sterile compounding performs weighing, measuring, and mixing of ingredients using proper calculations, equipment, and technique, ensuring accuracy and safety. • Automated Dispensing Machines: proficient in signing into systems, loading, refilling, unloading, managing expirations, and resolving discrepancies in ADCs. • Stock Orders/Emergency Carts/Boxes: accurately and efficiently fills medication orders and emergency supplies in a timely manner. • Delivery: ensures timely and accurate delivery of medications via tubing, cart runs, IV runs, and STAT deliveries. Verifies correct delivery location and proper storage (e.g., refrigeration, secure storage).&nbsp;</span><br><span>Responsible for inventory control through proper removal of medications from automation, stock rotation, removal of expired medications, reordering/stocking of medications/supplies when stock is low, and packaging/assembling medications for future dispensing. Ensures safe storage of medications. *Verifies quantity on hand (QOH) and adjusts inventory records as necessary; promptly reports discrepancies to the on-site buyer *When inventory counts are incorrect, updates Omnicell with the correct quantity and earliest expiration date, and escalates significant discrepancies to the buyer *Notifies the buyer of increased usage trends in medications or supplies *Identifies medications frequently expiring and recommends PAR level adjustments to the buyer for evaluation *Ensures proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and follows safety protocols when handling hazardous medications *Maintains accurate inventory of controlled substances (CII–CV), including documentation and reconciliation of records.
