The time has never been better to Embrace Your Great and work in an environment with the highest safety standards in the industry. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Position: Performing general welding assignments for any/all areas of the plant to support the production goals.  Duties include but are not limited to those described below. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>WHAT YOU’LL DO</strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to weld on a flat, curved, or vertical surface. </li>\n <li>Ability to set a welding machine, including the gas, volts, amps, and wire speed. </li>\n <li>Ability to weld in a variety of positions, particularly overhead. </li>\n <li>Be able to make minor adjustments to the welding equipment as needed. </li>\n <li>Properly load raw materials, parts, etc., into the welding machine. </li>\n <li>Removes work pieces and scrap from machines. </li>\n <li>Files, grinds, or scrapes sharp edges, burrs, scales, or rust from work pieces. </li>\n <li>Hammers out bent or warped spots in metal. </li>\n <li>Sorts, marks, tags finished work. </li>\n <li>Transports material or signal crane operator to move materials. </li>\n <li>Compares work piece with straight edge or template to verify conformance to specifications. </li>\n <li>Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment. </li>\n <li>Performs other routine duties as needed. </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)</strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Employee must be able to use pneumatic power tools and equipment of all types. </li>\n <li>Employee must be able to accurately read a tape measure. </li>\n <li>Employee must be able to perform and remember how to perform multiple tasks from day to day. </li>\n <li>Employee must be able to perform the physical requirements listed in that section of this job description. </li>\n <li>Employee must look for potential cost savings in the work process, help keep scrap and waste to a minimum and be efficient in the use of all supplies. </li>\n <li>The employee must perform the assigned tasks in a way they meet or exceed the required production level. </li>\n <li>The quantity of units, parts, assemblies and/or installations expected will vary with the process performed, customer specification, volume, and location. </li>\n <li>Welder must inspect his/her product as instructed by standard operating procedures. </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to do heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) multiple times daily in an 8-to-12-hour shift. </li>\n <li>Ability to stand and move about on concrete 8- 12 hours a day. Ability to see, walk, reach, grasp, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, carry, climb (including ladders), work overhead, push, and pull.</li>\n <li>Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.</li>\n <li>Ability to maneuver large parts and assemblies (up to 180 pounds) by pushing, pulling, and flipping them into place.</li>\n <li>The employer will make reasonable accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.</li>\n <li>Ability to accurately read a tape measure and other measuring tools.</li>\n <li>Ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations following supervisor’s instruction.</li>\n <li>Aptitude to learn and retain latest information.</li>\n <li>Ability to read blueprints and manufacturing orders.</li>\n <li>Ability to follow instructions, given either verbally or in writing.</li>\n <li>Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.</li>\n <li>Ability to communicate effectively in English.</li>\n <li>Ability to accurately read a tape measure and other measuring tools.</li>\n <li>Ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations following supervisor’s instruction.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>ABOUT GREAT DANE</strong> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>With a history dating back to 1900, Great Dane has established itself as a transportation solutions leader of today – delivering innovative products and exceptional services that help our customers and employees succeed.
