The ideal candidate will have experience in precast/prestressed concrete design and a solid understanding of structural engineering principles. This position is responsible for performing structural design, analysis, coordination, and quality assurance of precast structures under the direction of a Licensed Professional Engineer. As a Project Engineer, you will collaborate with project coordinators, drafting staff, and clients to ensure efficient design execution and technical accuracy across all deliverables. <br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Key Responsibilities</span><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Primary Duties</span><br>Under the direction of a Licensed Professional Engineer, you will:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Independently complete the design of precast structures and lateral systems.</li>\n<li>Check precast shop and erection drawings for accuracy and compliance.</li>\n<li>Participate in ongoing standards development and process improvement.</li>\n<li>Coordinate externally with precast producers and design teams, and internally with the Drafting, Engineering, and BIM departments.</li>\n<li>Develop and train Design Engineers to strengthen team capabilities.</li>\n<li>Aid in creating project engineering schedules and manage assigned design deliverables.</li>\n<li>Prepare and review final submittal packages for client approval.</li>\n<li>Oversee the initial framing model and collaborate with drafting staff.</li>\n<li>Participate in all project-related meetings, both internal and external.</li>\n<li>Perform final model reviews and adjust calculations based on review comments.</li>\n<li>Review and approve design information and hardware details before submittal.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">BIM Responsibilities</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add and verify required parameters in the model, including: DESIGN_NUMBER, FINAL_STRENGTH / RELEASE_STRENGTH, WEIGHT_PER_UNIT (default 150).</li>\n<li>Verify mark numbers for accuracy.</li>\n<li>Add and manage model elements including reinforcing (strand, rebar, mesh, WWF, c-grid, etc.), lifting/handling devices, corbel assemblies, heel plates, strong backs, and insulation sheets/pins (client-specific).</li>\n<li>Check for interferences and ensure assemblies are properly created and reinforced.</li>\n<li>Use modeling tools to set Top as Cast and mark assemblies appropriately.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Secondary Duties</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist the Technical Director in hosting training programs for internal engineering staff.</li>\n<li>Support process improvement and knowledge-sharing initiatives across the department.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Required Qualifications</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an ABET-accredited university in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.</li>\n<li>Acceptable alternative degrees: Architectural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.</li>\n<li>3–6 years of experience in precast engineering or a related field.</li>\n<li>EIT certification required.</li>\n<li>PE certification preferred.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Software Skills</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)</li>\n<li>MathCAD</li>\n<li>Precast design software (Eriksson preferred)</li>\n<li>Structural analysis or finite element analysis software (RISA 3D preferred)</li>\n<li>3D modeling software (Revit preferred)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Benefits at PTAC Engineering</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Competitive Salaries</li>\n<li>100% paid healthcare for the employee</li>\n<li>If family coverage is needed, PTAC pays 50% of the difference</li>\n<li>100% employee-paid Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability</li>\n<li>PTO:\n<ul>\n<li>0–5 years: 80 hours</li>\n<li>6–10 years: 120 hours</li>\n<li>10+ years: 160 hours</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>40 hours of sick time per year</li>\n<li>Up to 4% 401(k) match</li>\n<li>Standard paid holidays</li>\n<li>Casual/relaxed work environment</li>\n<li>Option to work from home Monday and Friday</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Work Hours:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday–Thursday: 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.</li>\n<li>Friday: 7:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Eligibility</span> Please note that PTAC Engineering is unable to sponsor visas at this time.
