    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Eastern Virginia Medical School is seeking Board-certified or board-eligible Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) physician to provide outpatient and inpatient consultative care to include management of complicated pregnancies, prenatal diagnosis and fetal ultrasound as well as participate in labor and delivery coverage.   </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Outpatient Clinical Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Consultative Complex OB Care</strong>: Provide ongoing antenatal management and consultations for patients with maternal or fetal complications, including but not limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy</li>\n <li>Diabetes mellitus and endocrine disorders</li>\n <li>Cardiac disease in pregnancy</li>\n <li>Multifetal gestation</li>\n <li>History of adverse pregnancy outcomes</li>\n <li>Preterm labor/preterm birth risk</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Prenatal Diagnosis & Genetic Counseling</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Interpret and counsel patients on genetic screening and diagnostic testing options</li>\n <li>Collaborate with genetic counselors for integrated patient care</li>\n <li>Offer and perform procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS)</li>\n <li>Manage counseling for abnormal ultrasound or laboratory findings</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Obstetric Ultrasound and Imaging</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Perform and interpret ultrasounds, fetal echocardiography, and targeted imaging studies</li>\n <li>Participate in quality assurance and protocol development for ultrasound services</li>\n <li>Supervise sonographers and imaging fellows (if applicable)</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Inpatient Clinical Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Labor & Delivery Triage and Management</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Supervise and manage complex obstetric patients in labor and delivery, including those with medical/surgical complications</li>\n <li>Direct or supervise emergency OB interventions, maternal resuscitation, and high-acuity deliveries</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Antepartum Service</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide inpatient consults and primary management for hospitalized pregnant patients with complex conditions</li>\n <li>Manage periviable pregnancies, preeclampsia, PPROM, and fetal growth restriction</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Obstetrical Procedures</strong></p>\n<p>Perform and supervise procedures such as:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Cerclage placement</li>\n <li>Amnioreduction or amnioinfusion</li>\n <li>External cephalic version</li>\n <li>Invasive diagnostic or therapeutic fetal procedures, such as shunts</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Call Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Participate in shared night and weekend call schedule with MFM colleagues</li>\n <li>Provide backup consultative support to general OB/GYN providers during off-hours</li>\n <li>Supervise inpatient antepartum and delivery unit coverage, including resident/fellow interactions</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Teaching & Supervision</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Serve as attending physician on clinical rotations involving medical students, OB/GYN residents, MFM fellows, and Advanced Practice Providers</li>\n <li>Provide real-time teaching during rounds, ultrasound sessions, and labor/delivery care</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>MD or DO\n<p>Board certified eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine</p>\n<p>Currently licensed or able to obtain license in Virginia</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>At least 1 year of MFM work experience is preferred; however, new/upcoming fellowship graduates are also welcome to apply.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Both academic appointment and salary are commensurate with qualifications and are highly competitive on a regional and national level.</p>\n<h2>Location : Location</h2>US-VA-Virginia Beach",
