    "description": "<p><span>Reporting to a Clinical Manager, Clinical Services, t</span><span>he Recreation Assistant will support the delivery of inclusive summer programming through FIREFLY and Kenora Chiefs Advisory (KCA), aimed at promoting recreation, physical activity, and independence for children and youth, with a focus on children and youth of all abilities. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Key Responsibilities:</span><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Assist in the planning, promotion, and participant recruitment for</span><span> summer Bike Camps.</span></li>\n<li><span>Support the set-up, delivery, and clean-up of Bike Camps at multiple FIREFLY locations.</span></li>\n<li><span>Work directly with children and youth (ages 6 and up), including those with exceptional needs, using adaptive strategies to promote independence and skill-building (e.g., learning to ride 2-wheeled or adaptive bikes).</span></li>\n<li><span>Collaborate with KCA recreational staff to support the implementation of community-based summer programs.</span></li>\n<li><span>Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized plans tailored to each participant’s needs.</span></li>\n<li><span>Ensure a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for all camp participants.</span></li>\n<li><span>Follow health and safety policies and guidelines at all times.</span></li>\n<li><span>Carry out other related duties as assigned by the FIREFLY Physiotherapy and KCA Recreational Therapy teams.</span><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications &amp; Skills:</span><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Currently enrolled in high school or a post-secondary education program.</li>\n<li>Experience working with children and youth in recreational or community settings.</li>\n<li>Experience supporting individuals with exceptional needs is considered an asset.</li>\n<li>Knowledge of Ojibwe, ASL, or other augmentative communication methods is an asset.</li>\n<li>Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.</li>\n<li>Creativity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn.</li>\n<li>Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work respectfully within diverse communities.</li>\n<li>Valid Driver’s License an asset.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Conditions of Employment:</span><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a reasonable workload.</span></li>\n<li><span>Ability to work independently and as part of a team.</span></li>\n<li><span>Must demonstrate the agency’s values and promote a positive, respectful work culture.</span></li>\n<li><span>Conflict resolution, mediation, and problem-solving abilities.</span></li>\n<li><span>Must pass a Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (free of offenses).</span></li>\n<li><span>Commitment to following and promoting all agency health and safety protocols.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">DEADLINE TO APPLY:</span> </span></p>\n<p><span>Please submit your resume and cover letter no later than May 22nd, 2026 </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>FIREFLY does not use artificial intelligence to screen, assess or select applicants.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>Applicants must be minimum 15 years of age to meet funding requirements, enrolled in secondary or post-secondary and returning to school in the Fall.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>Potential Start Date: July 6th, 2026 for 8 weeks @ 35 hours per week with potential for an earlier start date and longer term.</span></p>",
