RSP Teacher Job Description ABOUT US Arts in Action Community Charter School opened in Fall 2011 with grades K-5. The elementary program aims to provide a rigorous academic foundation while developing the whole child through a rich arts program, a daily socio-emotional learning component, and modeling advocacy through social justice initiatives. Arts in Action Community Middle School opened in Fall 2016 and serves grades 6-8 students. We believe that all students deserve access to the arts. OUR MISSION : To empower, prepare, and inspire students in Los Angeles to achieve their highest potential and become active citizens who work toward building a more just, humane, and sustainable world by providing a democratic arts-enriched and nurturing school environment. JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Accessible Education Director, the RSP teacher (Accessible Education) provides expertise and assistance in meeting the needs of students with mild to moderate disabilities. The RSP teacher provides one-to-one instruction, classroom support, and small group pull-out and push-in instruction to ensure students with IEPs meet their individual goals. In addition, the RSP teacher collaborates with general education teachers to accommodate instructional strategies and curriculum and develop behavioral plans for students with additional needs. RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate all special education services and compliance reporting for students on caseload. Identify, assess, develop, and review IEPs for students with special education needs. Communicate and collaborate with Teachers to provide additional academic support in the classroom.   Maintain current and up-to-date files. Communicate regularly with administration regarding student progress and program development.    Collaborate with students, parents, and instructional staff to ensure that IEPs and Section 504 plans are implemented, including Behavior Support Plans (for learners with disabilities). Provide workshops, paperwork, and resources to parents promptly. Meet with general education teachers regularly to help support the planning of lessons for a variety of learners.   Perform RSP duties in an inclusion and pull-out setting, collaborating with general education teachers and using ongoing assessment to adapt instruction to students’ needs based on the IEPs. Facilitate IEP meetings, including scheduling with the school team, ensuring interpretation, if needed, and timeline compliance. Maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and staff. Continually develop skills to realize the school’s mission and vision. Maintain compliance with all aspects of IDEA. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s Degree; Masters preferred Mild-Moderate K-12 California Credential  Bilingual in Spanish/English is strongly preferred, with fluency in reading, writing, and speaking.  Experience in elementary or middle school education is strongly preferred.  WAGE AND BENEFITS: This is a full-time, 10-month salaried position. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience; a competitive benefits package is included. The salary range is $70,500 - $105,000 annually . Teachers are compensated based on their placement on a salary scale divided into Developing, Lead, and Distinguished Teacher categories. Compensation is determined based on years of teaching, expertise, and education units. Schools in Action is non-sectarian in its programs, admissions policies, employment practices, and all other operations shall not charge tuition and shall not discriminate on the basis of age, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, disability, religion or sexual orientation, either actual or perceived.
