Overview Job Summary: Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies, utilizing variety of equipment and following prescribed procedures: Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculates doses, and administers doses, under direction of physician. Calibrates equipment. Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ. Measures radioactivity, using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors. Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician. Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions 1. Follows departmental guidelines for use of radiopharmaceuticals · Applies radionuclides while maintaining standards of quality care · Operates and maintains quality control for all Imaging equipment and assaying devices. · Calibrates cameras and equipment in accordance of departmental protocols. · Removes radioactive and waste materials from exam room to proper storage or disposal location. · Stores radioactive materials in appropriately labeled/shielded containers. 2. Selects proper equipment to complete requested examination. · Operates Nuclear Medicine computers to enhance value of diagnostic information obtained. · Follows departmental protocols when computer processing studies to achieve high quality images. · Uses appropriate choice of filters and slice selection. · Utilizes necessary display parameters, image intensity, and labeling techniques. 3. Maintains appropriate records to assure regulatory compliance. · Maintains records of radioisotope use, storage, and disposal. · Loges patient doses administered. · Follows safeguards and protocols. · Maintains dose calibration records. 4. Directed by a physician, performs technical imaging procedures utilizing radioisotopes. · Provides patient education about procedure to be performed. · Performs procedures in diagnostic/therapeutic use of radioisotopes. · Prepares isotopes for patient use. · Performs venipuncture as directed. · Utilizes ALARA · Completely fills out all required consents and questionnaires. 5. PACS · Completes all exams timely in PACS and EMR · Verify all physician orders matches order in PACS · Verifies all images are in PACS, scans any required documentation, and adds any additional information in notes section as needed. Qualifications Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required: Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an Accredited CNMT Program preferred. License, Certification and/or Registration: CNMT Registry Preferred, RT(R) with appropriate training accepted. BLS must be obtained during orientation period Experience: Minimum of one-year clinic experience in direct patient care setting. Requires proficiency at a technical level not requiring constant supervision in nuclear medicine. Additional Skill/Abilities: Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing task frequently and quickly. Follows departmental guidelines for use of  radiopharmaceuticals</p>\n<p>·         Applies radionuclides while maintaining standards of quality care</p>\n<p>·         Operates and maintains quality control for all Imaging equipment and assaying devices.</p>\n<p>·         Calibrates cameras and equipment in accordance of departmental protocols.</p>\n<p>·         Removes radioactive and waste materials from exam room to proper storage or disposal location.</p>\n<p>·         Stores radioactive materials in appropriately labeled/shielded containers.</p>\n<p>2.     Selects proper equipment to complete requested examination.</p>\n<p>·         Operates Nuclear Medicine computers to enhance value of diagnostic information obtained.</p>\n<p>·         Follows departmental protocols when computer processing studies to achieve high quality images.</p>\n<p>·         Uses appropriate choice of filters and slice selection.</p>\n<p>·         Utilizes necessary display parameters, image intensity, and labeling techniques.</p>\n<p>3.     Maintains appropriate records to assure regulatory compliance.</p>\n<p>·         Maintains records of radioisotope use, storage, and disposal.</p>\n<p>·         Loges patient doses administered.</p>\n<p>·         Follows safeguards and protocols.</p>\n<p>·         Maintains dose calibration records.</p>\n<p>4.     Directed by a physician, performs technical imaging procedures utilizing radioisotopes.</p>\n<p>·         Provides patient education about procedure to be performed.</p>\n<p>·         Performs procedures in diagnostic/therapeutic use of radioisotopes.</p>\n<p>·         Prepares isotopes for patient use.</p>\n<p>·         Performs venipuncture as directed.</p>\n<p>·         Utilizes ALARA</p>\n<p>·         Completely fills out all required consents and questionnaires.</p>\n<p>5.
