    "description": "<h2>Job Description</h2>\n<p>The Front-Line Supervisor, Operating Crew is a leadership role responsible for supporting the Outside Machinist Operating Crew operations on first and second shift. The Operating Crew Test Supervisor is responsible for executing flushes, activation, and testing, of ship propulsion systems, supporting auxiliary systems and prime movers. Responsibilities also include supervising safe ship operations during sea trials. The OC Test Supervisor will direct the activities of Department 09OC test mechanics and coordinate activities with multiple trades including pipe, machinery, electrical, and vent. All tasks are planned and executed with safety as the highest priority. The OC Test supervisor reports to the Trade Superintendent. Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the Front Line Supervisor, Operating Crew ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong> <strong>Safety Leadership:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Champion BIW safety culture and enforce all safety standards and procedures across operations.</li>\n <li>Ensure proper PPE use, hazard awareness, and adherence to safe work practices.</li>\n <li>Support safety training and continuous improvement in workplace safety performance.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Project Execution:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Lead execution of Operating Crew flushing and test activities in support of ship/unit schedules.</li>\n <li>Monitor the quality of work performed; ensure first-time quality through proper oversight and training.</li>\n <li>Support Plan of the Week (POW) execution and coordinate with area management to align resources with operational needs.</li>\n <li>Track the status of assigned Preventative Maintenance (PM) workloads and work order’s completion status to enable intervention for planned downtime (and reduce unplanned outages).</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Operational Management:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Familiar with activation and operation of Ships HM&E systems to include but not limited to: Propulsion systems, Distributed Sea water cooling systems, High and Low Air systems, Gas Turbine and Diesel engines, and fuel and oil storage, service, and purification systems.</li>\n <li>Participate in efforts to improve efficiency and optimization.</li>\n <li>Provide technical guidance and support to mechanics.</li>\n <li>Ensure accountability of task and goal completion.</li>\n <li>Support Outside Machinist metric(s) and established goals.</li>\n <li>Understand, support, and administer the union labor contract.</li>\n <li>Use electronic time accounting system (WFM) to maintain employees’ time, overtime, and work order charges daily.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Mentoring & Team Development:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Mentor mechanics by developing their technical knowledge and ability to execute daily objectives.</li>\n <li>Ensure procedures and process controls are well-documented and communicated to the personnel charged with executing the tasks.</li>\n <li>Promote continuous learning and skills development for mechanics.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Continuous Improvement:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Participate in Business Operating System (BOS) principles and productivity enhancements.</li>\n <li>Focus on the quality of trade’s workmanship to ensure quality standards.</li>\n <li>Incorporate the Plan-Do-Check-Act model to ensure sustainment of the improvements established.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required/Preferred Education/Training</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Navy or Maritime ship engineering plant operating experience</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required/Preferred Experience</h2>\n<p><strong>Required experience:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Propulsion and auxiliary systems operation.</li>\n <li>General computer skills, including competence with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, and Access, and experience with web-based data management tools.</li>\n <li>Ability and desire to work in a team environment.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Preferred experience:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>OSHA Control of Hazardous Energy processes and procedures in marine or industrial environment.</li>\n <li>NFPA 70E Electrical Safety process and procedures.</li>\n <li>Problem resolution and root cause identification processes.</li>\n <li>Well developed oral and written presentation skills.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Unique/Additional Requirements:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>US Government Secret security clearance.</li>\n <li>Able to maintain organization in the dynamic environment of ship construction and testing.</li>\n <li>Position requires occasional night and weekend work.</li>\n</ul>",
