Description

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a Senior Operations Analyst to support the U.S. Navy’s Ship Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Readiness and Effectiveness Measuring (SHAREM) program at the Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) in San Diego, CA . The SHAREM program assesses the readiness and effectiveness of sensors, systems, weapons, and countermeasures employed by individual and groups of platforms to meet specified objectives in tactically and operationally relevant environments. An ideal candidate will have a background in operations research/analysis, statistics, and data analysis in a US Navy environment, especially in a Ship Anti-Submarine Warfare setting. Typical Responsibilities: Ensure the validity of Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs)/Measures of Performance (MOPs) used to accurately quantify exercise results. Conduct statistical trend analysis on sensor, systems, weapon and countermeasure data to incorporate multiple exercise results and ascertain system performance and Tactics Techniques and Procedures (TTP) effectiveness. Investigate the validity of probabilistic models and algorithms resident in proposed tactical decision aids. Ensure the design and execution of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) studies meet the specified objectives. Communicate exercise results in oral and written formats to representatives of naval commands, engineering labs, and program offices. Provide insight during ad hoc workshops and conferences and respond to statistical queries of systems performance. Coordinate the performance of other analysts. Location : Full time onsite (no remote/hybrid) at Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) on Naval Base San Diego in San Diego, CA. Travel Requirements : Up to 20% travel is anticipated to include CONUS and OCONUS locations. Typical Physical Activity : Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. Periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: repetitive motion, traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches), speaking or vision. Typical Pay Range : The anticipated pay range for this position in the identified location(s) is $85,000 - $105,000/year. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience. Existing Secret Security Clearance Required : This position requires an existing DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate will already possess an Active or Interim Secret security clearance. An otherwise strongly qualified candidate with highly relevant experience but no current security clearance may be considered. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:   Masters degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research, or a similar discipline. At least six (6) years of professional experience with operational research, operations analysis, applied math, and statistics. Experience leading/coordinating teams of other analysts and contributors. Excellent analytical problem-solving skills. Experience in the use of analytical software tools and languages such as MATLAB, Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Python, SQL, and R. Proficient with common productivity software, including the Microsoft Office suite. Excellent communication skills. Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Some or all relevant experience obtained in a U.S. Navy environment, especially supporting Ship Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP).
