      "value": "SYNOPSIS:\t\nThe (Senior Standards Engineer I) serves as a senior technical authority responsible for leading the development, implementation, and governance of engineering standards across product lifecycles. This role ensures compliance with national and international standards, drives strategic initiatives to enhance product certification processes, and acts as a central resource for engineering teams. The Senior Engineer collaborates cross-functionally to embed standards into design, development, and manufacturing, enabling global market access and operational excellence.\n\nCOMPETENCY PROFILE: \n•\tGlobal Competencies: Initiative; Comprehensive Thinking (Personal Credibility); Collaboration; Willingness to Learn \n\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\n•\tLead the development and maintenance of engineering standards and procedures across multiple disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Process).\n•\tServe as the centralized source of expertise for standards and regulatory compliance.\n•\tInfluence and contribute to the strategic direction of the department regarding standards and procedures.\n•\tDetermine North American compliance requirements for new products and provide detailed requirements for the requirement specification.\n•\tManage and coordinate Approvals Projects related to the development and sustaining engineering of products in D&M. \n•\tDrive the development of new North American certification Standards to strategically position new products and technologies into new business fields and applications.\n•\tDevelop competency as knowledge expert in applicable North American Standards and establish relationship with new approval agencies as required.\n•\tProvide clear and effective communication of regulatory compliance requirements for development teams at all levels within the organization.\n•\tLead and Coordinate internal/external Approvals audits for responsible products.\n•\tMaintain product approvals documentation in the PLM system related to approvals agencies and administrate the technical file for responsible products.\n•\tTrain and educate new employees in matters regarding product safety approvals and internal approvals process.\n•\tSupport Phoenix Contact HQ approvals teams with USA based approvals agencies.\n•\tParticipate in Engineering changes, conducting the analysis of modifications affecting the certification of those products under change.\n•\tMonitor regulatory compliance changes and certifications for obsolescence which affect the business and communicate those clearly, effectively and in a timely manner to the appropriate internal stakeholders.\n•\tLobby for Standards updates, or clarification to wording, where ambiguity is identified in categories and conditions of acceptability.\n•\tReview certificates and test reports from external laboratories for completeness and accuracy.\n•\tPerform regulatory review for all local product development projects.\n•\tProvide application-based consultative support to Phoenix Contact Technical Service where customers implement a Phoenix Contact product in their design, but compliance concerns arise.\n•\tAid in the reduction of Approvals project costs and time to obtain approval. (i.e., faster speed to market through improved project execution and negotiations with Approvals Agency).\n•\tSupport of approval related production audits by preparing information and coordinating between the different parties.\n•\tDemonstrate initiative by understanding what actions need to be taken and completing the required tasks while seeking the perspective of others as required.\n•\tDemonstrate an honest and forthright presence by taking responsibility for own mistakes and not blaming others, and by doing what he / she commits to doing.\n•\tWork as a team player to make a difference within the business and express gratitude and appreciation to others who have provided information, assistance, or support.\n•\tTrain and mentor junior engineers and new hires on standards, compliance, and internal processes.\n•\tReadily handle change through taking advantage of lifelong learning opportunities and being open minded and curious in the face of new challenges. Collaborate with engineering teams in the international BU network through the product development process.\n•\tMaintain a database of lessons learned and best practices to inform future projects.\n•\tOther duties as assigned by the Manager.\n\n\n\nQUALIFICATIONS:\n•\tAssociates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Business Management.\n•\t5+ years of experience in standards engineering or regulatory compliance\n•\tProven experience with UL, CSA, NEMA, SAE, TIA, ODVA standards\n•\tFamiliarity with CE (EMC and LVD), ATEX, IECEx\n•\tStrong project management and communication skills\n•\tAbility to influence cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives\n•\tDemonstrates a willingness to collaborate with others, build relationships, and involve others in decision making. \n•\tDemonstrates the ability to deliver results by solving or supporting others in solving problems, prioritizing tasks, and/or resources, and focusing on outcomes. \n•\tDemonstrates self-awareness and the willingness to learn and grow, accept changes, and effectively adapt to changing work demands. \n•\tDemonstrates the ability to drive customer value through knowledge of the business, putting effort into identifying customer needs, and delivering work to maximize the value for customers. \n•\tDemonstrates a willingness to promote the value of improvement and innovation by staying ahead of trends, creating ideas and opportunities, and generating speed.\n•\tDemonstrates a willingness to take ownership by making decisions, taking responsibility, and driving things forward. \n\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:\n•\tMust be able to travel by air\n•\tOccasional overseas travel for extended periods required\n•\tOccasional Domestic Travel required\n•\tMust be able to sit for extended periods of time\n•\tMust be able to communicate effectively in English\n•\tMust be able to lift 25 lbs.\n•\tRegular and on-time attendance\n•\tThis is a hybrid position requiring at least three days in the office, unless otherwise specified",
