This entry‑level role is ideal for someone detail‑oriented, eager to learn the DFH industry, and ready to grow into a full estimator position. The Junior Estimator works closely with senior estimators, project managers, and sales staff to ensure bids are complete, competitive, and aligned with customer requirements.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities and Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Key Responsibilities</u></strong></p>\n<li><strong>Takeoffs & Quantification </strong></li>\n<ul>\n <li>Review architectural drawings, specifications, and addenda to identify door, frame, and hardware requirements</li>\n <li>Perform quantity takeoffs for hollow metal frames, wood doors, hollow metal doors, and hardware sets</li>\n <li>Assist in interpreting hardware schedules, elevations, and life‑safety requirements</li>\n <li>Enter takeoff data into estimating software or internal templates with accuracy and consistency</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<li><strong>Bid Preparation </strong></li>\n<ul>\n <li>Support senior estimators in preparing quotes, pricing sheets, and submittal packages</li>\n <li>Request vendor pricing for doors, frames, hardware, specialty products, and accessories</li>\n <li>Organize bid documents, RFIs, and correspondence to ensure complete bid packages</li>\n <li>Track bid deadlines and ensure deliverables are submitted on time</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<li><strong>Technical & Product Knowledge  </strong></li>\n<ul>\n <li>Learn manufacturer product lines (e.g., Allegion, ASSA ABLOY, Steelcraft, Curries, VT, Masonite)</li>\n <li>Understand basic code requirements including fire ratings, ADA, egress, and life‑safety considerations</li>\n <li>Develop familiarity with hardware functions, handing, and application</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<li><strong>Collaboration & Communication </strong></li>\n<ul>\n <li>Work closely with senior estimators to review takeoffs and verify accuracy</li>\n <li>Communicate with vendors, reps, and internal teams to clarify product details</li>\n <li>Participate in handoff meetings with project management after award</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<li><strong>Administrative & Support Tasks </strong></li>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintain organized digital files for drawings, quotes, and project documents</li>\n <li>Update CRM/ERP systems with bid information and status changes</li>\n <li>Assist with revisions, VE options, and re‑quotes as needed</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<li><strong>Miscellaneous</strong></li>\n<ul>\n <li>Support our values in the stand areas of Safety, Customer Focus, Teamwork, Integrity and being a Company of Choice for both employees and customers </li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Qualifications</u></strong></p>\n<li><strong>Required</strong></li>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong attention to detail and ability to read construction drawings</li>\n <li>Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic computer skills</li>\n <li>Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities</li>\n <li>Strong math and analytical skills</li>\n <li>Clear written and verbal communication</li>\n <li>Entry Level - Two year's experience</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<li><strong>Preferred (but not required)</strong></li>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience in construction, building materials, or DFH industry</li>\n <li>Familiarity with Bluebeam, Comsense, Protech, or similar estimating tools</li>\n <li>Understanding of commercial hardware functions and terminology</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<li><strong>Success Traits </strong></li>\n<ul>\n <li>Curious and eager to learn the DFH trade</li>\n <li>Comfortable working with technical details and complex product data</li>\n <li>Team‑oriented with a positive, solutions‑focused mindset</li>\n <li>Able to manage multiple bids and shifting priorities</li>\n <li>Takes pride in accuracy and craftsmanship in their work</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Compensation and Benefits</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Reports To</u></strong></p>\n<p>Director of Sales</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong><u>Compensation </u></strong></p>\n<p>The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and cost of living in the assigned market.
