This role primarily performs first-level (PV1) verification to validate prescription order entry, resolve discrepancies, and support patient safety prior to downstream clinical or dispensing review. Operating in a remote capacity, the Verification Pharmacist supports remote verification functions to maintain efficient, compliant, and high-quality pharmacy services.</p><p></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li><b>PV1 Order Verification:<span> </span></b>Perform first-level (PV1) verification of medication orders to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with prescriber intent prior to downstream review or dispensing.</li><li><b>Order Entry Review &amp; Discrepancy Resolution: <span> </span></b>Review prescription order entry for correct drug, strength, dosage form, quantity, directions, refills, and patient information; identify discrepancies and resolve data-entry errors in collaboration with pharmacy staff.</li><li><b>Regulatory &amp; Safety Compliance:<span> </span></b>Ensure all verified orders comply with federal, state, and organizational pharmacy regulations, including controlled substance requirements and documentation standards.</li><li><b>Cross-Functional Collaboration:<span> </span></b>Partner with pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, prescribers, and operational teams to address escalated order issues, clarify prescriptions, and support safe and efficient workflow.</li><li><b>Hybrid Workflow Support:<span> </span></b>Provide consistent PV1 verification support across remote and on-site environments, maintaining productivity, accuracy, and quality standards regardless of work location.</li><li><b>Documentation &amp; Escalation:<span> </span></b>Document interventions, clarifications, and corrections according to pharmacy policy; escalate clinical concerns or ambiguous orders to appropriate clinical or leadership teams.</li><li><b>On-Site Prescription Fulfillment &amp; Dispensing:</b><span> </span>Accurately prepare, compound (when applicable), and dispense medications in accordance with verified orders, prescriber intent, and patient-specific requirements, ensuring timely and safe delivery of therapy.</li><li><b>Final Pharmacist Verification (PV2):</b><span> </span>Perform final clinical and dispensing verification of medications prior to release, confirming correct drug, dose, formulation, labeling, and patient instructions.</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>Required Experience &amp; Qualifications:</b></p><p>Minimum Qualifications:</p><ul><li>Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in state of residence.</li><li>PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPharm) from an accredited school of pharmacy.</li><li>Experience reviewing medication orders, prescription data, or pharmacy workflows with strong attention to detail and accuracy.</li><li>Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, electronic prescribing platforms, and verification workflows.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a hybrid work environment.</li></ul><p></p><p>Preferred Experience &amp; Qualifications:</p><ul><li>Previous experience with PV1, order entry verification, centralized pharmacy verification, or remote pharmacist workflows.</li><li>Experience in health-system, specialty, mail-order, or PBM pharmacy settings.</li><li>Familiarity with state and federal pharmacy regulations, including HIPAA and controlled substance compliance.</li><li>Strong ability to identify workflow inefficiencies, detect potential safety risks, and resolve order discrepancies.</li><li>Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume verification environment while maintaining accuracy and patient safety.</li></ul><h1><br /><br /><b>Additional Information</b><br /> </h1><p>Physical requirements for this role include the ability to sit for extended periods while performing order verification and data review; use hands frequently for keyboard and mouse operation; maintain visual acuity to accurately read prescription orders, on-screen data, and regulatory documentation; and communicate clearly while discerning auditory information via phone and virtual platforms.
