You will assist in all parts of the pre and postoperative periods by preparing supplies for each patient, charting their medical history, administering medications, monitoring vitals, etc. while maintaining a safe and private environment that is in accordance with HIPAA and OAM policies. It will be imperative that you have a kind demeanor and can work well in a fast-paced, team oriented environment.</span></p><p><br></p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial,sans-serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: rgb(15, 92, 153);\">Essential Responsibilities</span></strong></span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: arial,sans-serif;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Preoperative Duties:</span></em></strong></span></p><ul><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Select and prepare appropriate supplies for the preoperative period based on the day&rsquo;s schedule.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Complete and review the patient&rsquo;s pre-operative assessment prior to procedure time.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Identify the patient and surgery location.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Review, assess, and complete the patient&rsquo;s medical history, current health status, consent forms, etc. and update the patient chart accordingly.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Contact the appropriate individuals regarding any abnormalities.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Ensure that the patient and their family member(s)/guest(s) understand the surgery process and postoperative procedures.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Carry out any directives given by the anesthesiologist and physician prior to the procedure.<ol style=\"font-family: initial; color: initial; font-size: initial;\"><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\"><strong><em>Postoperative Duties:</em></strong></span></p><ul><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Assess the patient&rsquo;s level of anesthesia emergence in accordance with policies, procedures, and ASPAN standards using the report from the OR nurse and/or the anesthesiologist.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Monitor vital signs (i.e. the patient&rsquo;s respiratory, cardiovascular, circulatory, neurological, etc. status.)</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Asses the fluid administration site; including tubes, drains, etc. for patency, drainage amount, character, position, etc.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Maintain oxygenation and patient airway to allow for proper breathing.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Observe surgical site for any bleeding or abnormalities.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Administers medications safely and accurately.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Execute the physician&rsquo;s orders in a timely manner.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Implement patient comfort measures as appropriate (i.e. medication for pain and nausea, position changes, temperature control, etc.)</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Document all observations and nursing care provided accurately and thoroughly on the appropriate forms.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Educate patient and family on postoperative instructions.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;\">Discharge patient according to the physician&rsquo;s orders, patient&rsquo;s condition, and standards of care.</li><li style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;
