Community engagement lies at the heart of our projects, driven by a genuine commitment to meaningful and inclusive participation and co-benefits, such as biodiversity conservation and socioeconomic upliftment. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>NatCarbon Africa seeks a Truck Driver in the Operations Department for the large-scale Spekboom Restoration Project in the Eastern and Western Cape Provinces of South Africa.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>With our partner, Imperative Global, our aim is to restore up to 100,000 hectares of degraded subtropical thicket biome. The Project entails planting Spekboom (<em>Portulacaria afra</em>) on privately owned land to improve ecosystem functioning and agricultural productivity over time, promote biodiversity, improve soil filtration, enhance water storage capabilities, and to reduce soil erosion. The Project is estimated to permanently store large quantities of Carbon Dioxide over the Project life, thus positively contributing towards climate change mitigation.</p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Position Summary:</span></p>\n<p>The Code 14 Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of packed Spekboom (Portulacaria afra) cuttings, plants, or saplings in crates using a vehicle as supplied by NatCarbon. This will mostly be a 12-ton truck with a trailer. This role requires <span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">extreme attention to detail</span></span> regarding the loading, securing, and documentation of delicate plant materials to ensure minimal damage, <span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">accurate inventory tracking</span></span>, and compliance with agricultural transport standards.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Roles and Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Load Management &amp; Cargo Protection (Spekboom Specific)</span><br></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Safe Handling:</span> Ensure Spekboom crates are packed and stacked appropriately to prevent damage during transit.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Loading/Offloading:</span> Supervise or assist in the loading and unloading of crates, ensuring plants are not crushed or overstressed.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Securing Load:</span> Ensure the load is balanced and secured to prevent shifting, which could damage delicate succulent stems.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Load Integrity:</span> Monitor the integrity of crates and ensure crates are secured to prevent crates from falling off the trucks on the poor gravel roads traversed.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Documentation &amp; Accuracy (High Accuracy Required)</span><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Inventory Verification:</span> Verify that the number of crates and Spekboom quantity on the vehicle corresponds exactly with the loading documents (delivery notes/invoices).</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Proof of Delivery Management:</span> Ensure Proof of Delivery (POD) notes are signed by the client, with all discrepancies noted and communicated to the logistics manager immediately.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Record Keeping:</span> Maintain accurate, clean, and up-to-date logbooks, trip sheets, and fuel records.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Defect Reporting:</span> Immediately report any inventory damages, shortages, or discrepancies, as well as vehicle defects.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Vehicle Operation &amp; Maintenance</span><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Pre-Trip &amp; Post-Trip Inspections:</span> Conduct daily checklists on the truck and trailer to ensure roadworthiness, focusing on brakes, tires, and lights.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Safety Compliance:</span> Adhere to all traffic laws, road safety regulations (National Road Traffic Act), and company policies at all times</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Vehicle Maintenance:</span> Maintain a clean and tidy cabin and load area.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Vehicle Service: </span>Ensure timeous arrangements for truck services at the required intervals.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p> <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Customer Service</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Professional Representation:</span> Interact with clients/nursery staff professionally, providing updates on delivery times and maintaining a positive company image.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">General:</span><br></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Embrace a culture of continuous learning by adapting to evolving job responsibilities, driven by NatCarbon’s commitment to innovation, personal growth, and shifting project priorities.</li>\n<li>Frequent travel within the Eastern and Western cape anticipated, including to remote locations.
