    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><b>Part-Time Faculty - Nursing: Adjunct Medical Surgical Clinical Instructor&nbsp;- Augusta/Hybrid - Fall 2026</b></p>\n<p>The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) transforms the lives of students of every age and background across the State of Maine and beyond through access to high-quality distance and on-site education, excellence in student support, civic engagement, and professional and liberal arts programs.</p>\n<p>UMA is the third largest public university in Maine.&nbsp; In addition to its main campus in the state’s capital, UMA also serves students at its campus in Bangor (UMA Bangor) and through UMA Centers around the state.&nbsp; With its multiple locations and long-term expertise in online and distance learning, UMA is generally considered the university of choice for Mainers of all ages who want to attend college without uprooting their lives.</p>\n<p><b>Statement:&nbsp;</b></p>\n<p>UMA's Nursing Program invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach clinical in our program. UMA has a holistic RN-BSN program which has AHNCC endorsement and started admitting students to the pre-licensure option concept-based curriculum which emphasizes caring science in fall 2019.&nbsp; We seek candidates who demonstrate expertise in evidence-based best practices in teaching nursing, a passion for nursing and teaching, a commitment to supporting diversity and student success, and a desire to join and collaborate with program faculty to implement these practices.</p>\n<p>Our teaching facilities include a state-of-the-art simulation center on the Augusta campus and smart classrooms.&nbsp; The faculty at the University of Maine at Augusta has a strong tradition of serving the needs of local and distance students.&nbsp; To learn more about the Nursing Program, please visit our <a href=\"http://www.uma.edu/academics/programs/nursing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Nursing Program webpage</a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Responsibilities include:&nbsp; Teaching fundamentals, health assessment and medical surgical lab, simulation and/or clinical courses in the BSN pre-licensure program in both traditional and non-traditional clinical formats.&nbsp; Review of applications is ongoing. Additional courses may be taught depending on applicant experience and education.</p>\n<p><b>Required Qualifications:</b></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Current unencumbered licensure as a RN in the State of Maine, or eligibility for Maine licensure.</li>\n <li>A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing/Master’s or higher to teach the theory portion of any course.</li>\n <li>Clinical practice within the past five years in med/surg nursing.</li>\n <li>Strong desire to support student learning in mental health environments and experiences.</li>\n <li>Teaching that includes the use of new technologies and delivery systems; experience teaching students at a distance.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><b>Preferred Qualifications:</b></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Three or more years of teaching at the college level.</li>\n <li>MSN or higher degree in nursing&nbsp;</li>\n <li>National certification as an Advanced Holistic Nurse (AHNCC)</li>\n <li>Teaching experience within a concept based curriculum with an emphasis on caring science.</li>\n <li>Experience in teaching in simulation&nbsp;</li>\n</ul>\n<p><b>Salary:&nbsp;</b>The salary range is per credit hour and commensurate with qualifications and experience.</p>\n<p><b>Application Requirements:</b></p>\n<ul>\n <li>A cover letter that fully describes your qualifications and experiences with specific reference to the required and preferred qualifications</li>\n <li>A resume/curriculum vitae</li>\n <li>Candidates selected to proceed to the final stages of the search process will be requested to provide a list of names and contact information for references.&nbsp; One of the references must be a recent supervisor.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><b><u>We are not able to consider applicants who require Visa sponsorship support.</u></b><br><br>\n  Incomplete application materials cannot be considered.&nbsp;<b>Application review will begin immediately and continue until a sufficient pool of candidates has been established. </b>The successful applicant is subject to appropriate background screening.&nbsp;</p>\n<p><b>Equal Opportunity Statement:</b></p>\n<p><i>The University of Maine System (the System) is an equal opportunity institution committed to fostering a nondiscriminatory environment and complying with all applicable nondiscrimination laws.
