At the Texas Civil Commitment Center Medical in Littlefield, Texas, our employees strive to improve the lives of those in our care through robust educational programming, clinical care, and other resources.&nbsp;</strong></p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong>Position Summary:</strong> Reports&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;corporate director,&nbsp;medical&nbsp;operations.&nbsp;Serves&nbsp;as&nbsp;designated health&nbsp;authority for&nbsp;the&nbsp;facility. Administratively supervises advanced practice provider and&nbsp;physician.&nbsp;Provides direct&nbsp;administrative&nbsp;and clinical&nbsp;supervision of&nbsp;medical&nbsp;records technician,&nbsp;medication technician, and&nbsp;registered&nbsp;nurses.&nbsp;Responsible for&nbsp;the&nbsp;management&nbsp;of&nbsp;medical&nbsp;and&nbsp;pharmaceutical&nbsp;services&nbsp;in&nbsp;compliance with&nbsp;MTC&nbsp;Medical&nbsp;and&nbsp;Texas&nbsp;Civil Commitment Office {TCCO) directives.</p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong>Essential Functions:</strong> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n<ol>\n <li>Plan,&nbsp;coordinate&nbsp;and&nbsp;manage&nbsp;the&nbsp;administrative&nbsp;and&nbsp;health&nbsp;services&nbsp;activities&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;department.</li>\n <li>Provide&nbsp;staff&nbsp;training,&nbsp;evaluate&nbsp;staff&nbsp;performance&nbsp;and&nbsp;implement&nbsp;department&nbsp;and&nbsp;personnel&nbsp;changes&nbsp;as approved&nbsp;by the&nbsp;corporate director of&nbsp;medical&nbsp;operations and&nbsp;coordinated&nbsp;with&nbsp;the&nbsp;human resources manager prior to implementation.</li>\n <li>Ensure&nbsp;nursing&nbsp;staff&nbsp;are&nbsp;properly&nbsp;educated&nbsp;and&nbsp;supervised&nbsp;to&nbsp;perform&nbsp;job&nbsp;functions.</li>\n <li>Maintains&nbsp;oversight&nbsp;of&nbsp;all&nbsp;medication&nbsp;delivery,&nbsp;documentation&nbsp;and&nbsp;accountability</li>\n <li>Ensure&nbsp;compliance&nbsp;with&nbsp;all&nbsp;accrediting/audit&nbsp;activities.&nbsp;Notify&nbsp;corporate&nbsp;office&nbsp;of&nbsp;non-compliance&nbsp;and develop plans of corrections as&nbsp;Indicated.</li>\n <li>Conduct&nbsp;audit&nbsp;activity&nbsp;to&nbsp;verify&nbsp;programmatic&nbsp;compliance&nbsp;and&nbsp;report&nbsp;findings&nbsp;as&nbsp;requested.</li>\n <li>Assist with development of&nbsp;departmental budget;&nbsp;monitor and&nbsp;control&nbsp;expenditures; review&nbsp;and recommend&nbsp;changes&nbsp;to&nbsp;budget&nbsp;authorizations.&nbsp;Manage&nbsp;and&nbsp;coordinate&nbsp;health&nbsp;services&nbsp;activity&nbsp;within budgetary guidelines.</li>\n <li>Ensure&nbsp;implementation&nbsp;of&nbsp;new&nbsp;and&nbsp;revised&nbsp;policies&nbsp;and&nbsp;procedures&nbsp;affecting&nbsp;health&nbsp;services; coordinate with&nbsp;other&nbsp;departments to&nbsp;ensure&nbsp;compliance with&nbsp;overall&nbsp;facility objectives.</li>\n <li>Manage and&nbsp;conduct coordinated health&nbsp;care and&nbsp;other health&nbsp;related programs&nbsp;for&nbsp;clients. Act&nbsp;as liaison&nbsp;between&nbsp;the&nbsp;facility&nbsp;and&nbsp;mental&nbsp;health&nbsp;consultants and&nbsp;coordinate&nbsp;the&nbsp;mental&nbsp;health&nbsp;program.</li>\n <li>Conducts departmental&nbsp;staff&nbsp;meetings.</li>\n <li>May&nbsp;perform&nbsp;nursing&nbsp;care&nbsp;based&nbsp;on&nbsp;staffing needs.</li>\n <li>Manage&nbsp;the&nbsp;record&nbsp;keeping&nbsp;and&nbsp;reports&nbsp;on&nbsp;injuries,&nbsp;diseases&nbsp;and&nbsp;disabilities&nbsp;of&nbsp;clients.</li>\n <li>Manage&nbsp;in-service&nbsp;training&nbsp;in&nbsp;health-related&nbsp;areas&nbsp;for&nbsp;other&nbsp;departments.</li>\n <li>Coordinate&nbsp;and&nbsp;review,&nbsp;for&nbsp;corporate&nbsp;office&nbsp;approval,&nbsp;payment&nbsp;to&nbsp;outside&nbsp;vendors,&nbsp;subcontracted&nbsp;staff and&nbsp;services ensuring that&nbsp;expenditures are&nbsp;within&nbsp;contractual and&nbsp;budgetary limitations.</li>\n <li>Coordinate&nbsp;with&nbsp;facility&nbsp;administrator&nbsp;concerning&nbsp;health&nbsp;services.</li>\n <li>Ensure&nbsp;that&nbsp;health&nbsp;services&nbsp;department&nbsp;is&nbsp;in&nbsp;compliance&nbsp;with&nbsp;all&nbsp;applicable&nbsp;OSHA&nbsp;guidelines&nbsp;and regulations.</li>\n <li>Ensure&nbsp;compliance&nbsp;with&nbsp;QI&nbsp;program&nbsp;for&nbsp;facility and&nbsp;participate&nbsp;in&nbsp;QI&nbsp;programs/activities.&nbsp;Investigate quality of care concerns.</li>\n <li>Facilitate,&nbsp;where&nbsp;applicable,&nbsp;accreditation&nbsp;of&nbsp;health&nbsp;services&nbsp;programs&nbsp;by&nbsp;providing&nbsp;the&nbsp;required&nbsp;level&nbsp;of efficiency and approved, appropriate services.</li>\n <li>Promote the&nbsp;development of&nbsp;positive social&nbsp;skills through&nbsp;modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening&nbsp;when&nbsp;inappropriate&nbsp;behaviors&nbsp;are&nbsp;observed;&nbsp;provide&nbsp;regular&nbsp;feedback&nbsp;to&nbsp;staff&nbsp;regarding social&nbsp;skills<strong>&nbsp;</strong>procedures&nbsp;and&nbsp;intervention&nbsp;techniques.</li>\n <li>Maintain&nbsp;accountability&nbsp;of&nbsp;staff,&nbsp;clients&nbsp;and&nbsp;property;&nbsp;adhere&nbsp;to&nbsp;safety&nbsp;practices.</li>\n</ol>\n<p>It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of duties as determined by management.</p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong>Education and Experience Requirements:</strong></p>\n<p>Current,&nbsp;valid&nbsp;registered&nbsp;nursing&nbsp;(RN)&nbsp;license&nbsp;as&nbsp;approved&nbsp;by&nbsp;the&nbsp;Texas&nbsp;State&nbsp;Board&nbsp;of&nbsp;Nursing&nbsp;or&nbsp;ability&nbsp;to transfer license to Texas. <strong>Must possess either</strong>: Bachelor's&nbsp;degree&nbsp;from&nbsp;an&nbsp;approved&nbsp;accredited&nbsp;University&nbsp;and&nbsp;at&nbsp;least&nbsp;four&nbsp;years&nbsp;of&nbsp;nursing experience, of&nbsp;which two of&nbsp;those years are&nbsp;in a supervisory capacity; --<strong>OR--&nbsp;</strong>Graduation&nbsp;from&nbsp;an&nbsp;approved&nbsp;accredited&nbsp;nursing&nbsp;program&nbsp;and&nbsp;at&nbsp;least&nbsp;six&nbsp;years&nbsp;of&nbsp;nursing&nbsp;experience of which two&nbsp;of those&nbsp;years are&nbsp;in a supervisory&nbsp;capacity.
